WHY? Sure, he's had periods of being not terrible in the past, he is a GP2 champ and a race winner, but this season he's been truly awful. They must really need his money, because that definitely seems to be his only useful contribution.

Not surprised by this, frankly. Sauber and Lotus look to be the two teams that are really on the brink. My guess is that McLaren are going to let go of Button for Grosjean because, interestingly enough, I read that Hulk wants to stay put at FI for next year which would make sense, given the unpredictable outcome of the Honda engines. I wonder if Merc engines will really help Lotus in the end, since one of their drivers is far from good. It may be wishful thinking... but perhaps, a Lotus drive for Kamui is on the cards?

@sprulz, well you could be right about Grosjean to McLaren. Shame because Button would hardly deserve the sack but you do get the feeling Dennis is waiting for an opportunity to let him go and realistically Grosjean would be the best available alternative. I'd imagine if there was a seat available at Lotus though it'd go to someone like Sutil, undeservedly, but Lotus will probably need all the money they can get.

Surely Lotus could find a half-decent driver with backing? ... there seems to be plenty of pay-drivers out there who could be a bit more reliable and less controversial? .must be one awesome cheque he brings to weigh so heavily in his favour! .. Grosjean has always been Boullier's "golden boy" and now Eric can maybe bring him to Mclaren(?) although I read there could be a conflict of sponsors in that event.. if he does go to McL, then I expect Lotus to get someone like Sutil in or even M4X ... mmm now there's a thought!
