So Toto, you should say: Thanks Bernie, you are the one who was right !, because his double final points move is, probably, the only chance remained to keep some interest alive, to that Yas Marina.
Therefore, make sure that no retirement will be due to a technical setback.
This is what " I would be very surprised" should mainly stand for.

Well derrr Wolff. Unless the driver leading the championship goes into the last race more than 50 points ahead (which is a pretty big lead) then they can lose it. And by the looks of it it's going to be Rosberg and Hamilton in the top 2.

it is not 50 points that will be the difference, but 14. assuming that nico and lulu are the top two in the table and that both finish, then it would probably be the difference between 1st and 2nd. yes, 50 points are available, but only if one of them wins and the other has a dnf.
but it will be interesting to see what happens in the race. if either can win the wdc, will merc favour one over the other? however, according to the conspiracy theorists on this site, it will be poor lulu who gets the short straw, all down to "manipulation" by the team!

Mercedes will manage it till Abu Dahbi, it's good for business you know.

@richard, that straw was already pulled. It's looking a lot like Nico will have at least the difference between 1st and 4th by the last round, but not so much as to scare away the fans who can't subtract or multiply, who might think he has a shot at the title. At least thats the way this season is playing out currently. A managed spectacle, because Mercedes have no competition.
