F1 » Mercedes: Rosberg-Hamilton rivalry could get more heated

Toto Wolff says there may well be more fireworks in the second half of the season as Mercedes duo Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton duel to be crowned 2014 F1 World Champion. He also says Mercedes may review how it works once the Constructors' crown is secured...

The only way it will get more heated is if you start treating them differently which i can't see happening

so far this year toto and co have let them race every time, apart from hamilton not listening to radio calls (which in my opinion he was right to do so) theres not really much to get heated about obviously the rivalry is there for the title so it could do
the team need to keep on top of this or it could get out of hand.

paddy. there have been some calls already this year that have been questionable, so to say that toto is letting them race equally is just not correct. however, nico and lulu have two different attitudes, and IF they were to be treated equally, then one of these does not have the necessary attitude to cope with the challenge, and is more likely to have a melt down, as has been see already this year. on the other hand, nico just remains cool and gets on with the job.

Come come now Richard, do we really have to go there?

Lest we forget Rosberg's demeanour and loss for words when he doesn't get his way or for that matter the four consecutive wins he had no answer to.

Every racing driver gets upset when they lose. The fact Hamilton is inclined to let his emotions get the better of him isn't an indication of a melt down on the contrary I believe it's starting to act in his favour as we can all relate to him closer than an iceman so to speak. Cheers Rich!

I thought LH had said that if Nico got close enough he would let him pass, but he never did get close enough ?!!!
Richard, I assume you mean the 'questionable ' calls would have hindered Nico and benefitted LH, never the other way round ? can I also ask for your view ... starting from the back of the grid do you believe that Nico would have made as much if not more progress through the field that LH did ? btw, I rate Nico very highly and they both have strengths and weakness' but I personally don't think he would or could to be honest, he's good at leading a race and he can do some overtaking but I don't think he see's the gaps that LH will find

salan "lulu lets his emotions get the better of him".. exactly, and he then goes off in a sulk and a melt down.
snakey. lulu came through the field with the help of a sc. we havent seen if nico could do that yet, but i would suspect that he would take a more considered approach, and would not make wild thrusts own inside others. but does that make him any less of a driver than lulu? not in my book. prost drove in a manner similar to nico, and that did not do him too much harm, did it?

@richard, I think you are living in the past good buddy, Lewis clearly understands the game the media plays, he doesn't play the guy who gets jerked around too much anymore. Hes got the speed and the patience to get from the back of the grid to the podium consistently, and he would probably pull away from Nico more than half the time like Vettel did in years previous. The only way Lewis will lose this year is if his car keeps breaking down, or 'setup issues' start happening. The difference between Lewis and Nico, is Lewis just needs 50% of his teams attention, Nico needs his championship handed to him. Nico cannot balance a car as well as Lewis, and I rate Button better than Nico, Nico's performance this year has been pretty poor imo.

Richard, we've had our disagreements, banter on occasions and agreements on others, however I can't figure! It appears from the outside and if evidence from your past posts is anything to go by that you have a disdain dislike for Hamilton.
Where has this originated from? I am assuming you are English but even if this is not so. I would have thought he brings a considerable amount of entertainment to the show and for that factor alone he doesn't deserve this amount of criticism. No offence intended however I'll put forth my apologies in advance should you fell offended in anyway. Regards

salan. i do not dislike any driver, but it is just that i do not consider lulu with the high esteem some others do. he is a good but wild driver, but certainly cannot be considered a great. (cue the lulu fanboys!). in temparment, lulu is the senna to nicos prost. i think you will find that in nearly every race, there is legitimate criticism of lulus driving, whereas there is rarely any about nicos driving. and look who is leading at present. lulu may well win this years wdc, but NOT because of superior driving.
