"It is not yet known whether the drivers will face any kind of penalty, but the matter is likely to be investigated after the second practice session."

It's believed the whole matter will be swept under the carpet because Gold Boy is involved.

PS, sort those bloody annoying ads out that block where I type, jeez.

:)10 place grid penalty would be just right ... Alonso suffered it so why not the Culprit as well to suffer the same ... oh if only :)

If Lewis needs to bend a few rules along the way... I say he should be allowed to. Just think how glorious it will be when he's ultimately crown WC. Bernie and Ron will be so happy.

It would be yet another nail in the F1 coffin if the title decider was affected by some minor regulation, the breach of which can have no bearing on the race itself. If the FIA really feel they need to do something, then a fine would be appropriate, but please not a grid penalty. Let this last race run without interference for goodness sake.

And I agree about those ads- incredibly annoying!!!!!!!!!

It presumably could have some effect on the race, probably by allowing the team to scrub more than two sets of wet tyres, but given they don't like to change wet tyres in a race anyway - as we saw in China! - I'd say it has little real impact.

Is there anyone out there that thinks Alonso would NOT be penalised if it was him in this predicament? :?

Clarence, please,
Alonso never suffered a 10 place grid penalty. It was 5.

Rules have been broken so a pen of some form should be given as if it was any other weekend.

Hey Tony, Adam, and Clarence, cast your mind back a few weeks, that is if you are able to. There is a very recent precedent of inappropriate tyre use which went unpunished. When Ferrari started the Japanese GP on intermediate tyres. The FIA took the blame and allowed Ferrari to get away with it. So the FIA are allowed to make mistakes, I bet they say that McLaren are not.
