It is regrettable but there are no winners this season. Ferrarri's constructors title is gained by default, by having a much stronger opposition eliminated from the competition and the driver's championship was won by a suspicious fault on the main protagonists car. Taking nothing away from a well deserved and long overdue title for Kimi, the whole episode this year has been very badly tainted. Even if Lewis was gifted it, it still wouldn't mean anything this year. What a sorry state of affairs for a world sport!

McClaren are doing themselves no favours or winning any friends by continuing with this debacle. Lewis admitted he doesn't want to win the title this way, his fans don't want him to win it this way. This is yet another example of poor management decisions at McClaren. Do the right thing, drop the appeal and restore some credibility. Even if the appeal was successful, McClaren would be the joke of the paddock. I am a big LH/McClaren fan and even I concede that Kimi was the best driver and his conduct has been examplary throughout all this seasons shenanigens. He thouroughly deserves the title and should now be allowed to celebrate his achievements.

I agree it would not be good for motorsport if Lewis was given the title after the appeal BUT rules were broken by BMW & Renault and they should be penalised for these rule infringements. McLaren were penalised for using 2 sets of wet tyres in free practice so why should BMW and Renault get away with breaking the rules in the final race of the season? As for eveyone going on about poor management from McLaren regarding the appeal what a load of nonsence. Rules were broken but nothing was done about this. (Maybe because it was not McLaren that broke the rules?)

At the end of a season where Hamilton has let loose a whole bunch of asinine declarations, most of them defending his beloved Uncle Ron, he's finally said something I agree with.

Personally, I hope McLaren wins their appeal, and that the punishment meted out is points deducted from BMW and Williams, with no punishment for the drivers. That way we'd see if McLaren is really out for justice, as they pompously claim or has another agenda.

It's actually the stewards' fault; if they'd only thought to penalize the constructors involved to begin with then none of this nonsense would have happened.

Dont worry people, nothing will be done regarding fuel irregularities. The FIA and Bernie and Max show have their favoured Ferrari winning both titles.Remember Ecclestone saying no Ferrari,no Formula1 .The powers that be always want the red machine to win, boring. Someone bring back Lotus, come on Mansell you have the money

If the situation was reversed and LH or FA had won the title and Ferrari had a chance of appealing, does anyone honestly beleive that Ferrari would issue a statement saying 'in the interests of sportsmanship and fair play we do not wish to pursue this matter and fully accept the decision of the FIA' - Yeah right!

i don't like it in so much as they are having to stoop to Ferrari's level in order to the Championship. On the other hand, it is a business, and since they have a sizable fine to pay off, the additional money they could gain from being able to sell sponsorship for the car of the "World Champion" could be quite well used.

F1 sucks...

This season has got to the be worst on record.

Legal wrangles, Ferrari intellectual property passed to Mclaren, Ferrari using an illegal flexible floor, fuel temp issues.

Yes, Lewis Hamiliton has been a great success but put in the context that Mclaren have been proved that they cheated it kind of takes the shine off it.

Ron Dennis should take responsibility and resign...

Don't u see, McL had to protest regardless of the outcome (ie drivers wanting it or not) to set a precedent. The precedent is simple: Fine us for an 'error' and we'll be watching everyone else all the time. Ron et al not intrested in the title now, but keeping Vodafone/Merc/Aigo/Whoever happy is a key priority. Its not as personality based as a lot of u guys may think - its simple business...... Agree with some of the stuff 'F1sucks' says - it does look bad this year: The only one who should seriously knock it on the head? Max the muppet Mosely. What a poss tott.
