F1 » Silverstone slammed as worst circuit in F1.

With Silverstone under fire and London seemingly a no-go, future looks bleak for F1 in Britain...

Bernie is spot on. Silverstone is an appaling circuit in every respect. It does not deserve to be on the F1 calendar. Much better to save your money and go to the Barcelona F1! Should Britain have an F1? Yes absolutely. But who is going to pay for a new fit for purpose circuit? The politicians will only spend / waste our money on 'green' Olympics. It looks like we will eventually loose our F1. So we better get used to flying to our future F1 races.

Why on earth should the British government/taxpayer stump up for the GP? I think it's a bit rich to compare the British administration unfavourably with the regimes that are prepared to pay through the nose for 'world class facilities'. Turkey, China, Bahrain? All known for their first-class human rights!

there were days when the drivers didnt have luxury motorhomes to stay the night in and had leaky garages
get real F1, its the racing that matters, not track facilities!
a brands revamp would be where it is really at, fantastic track, unlike the flat ex airfield circuits which are generally dull in comparison.
Grow up bernie, its you complaining and not the teams, so i would said that the situation is fine!

Oh, you sad little whining bunch. Nationalism is really silly when seen from outside, I'll tell you that much. And kind of funny. :P

Anyway, what about that London city GP idea, what do you think about that? I personally don't know much about the plan but spontaneously I think it seems like a really cool idea. If there are overtaking possibilities, that is. It'd be interesting to hear what the british "themselves" think...

London? Personally I think its unworkable. But what do I know. As for Bernie bemoaning the money being spent on the Olympics and such - well - my mind boggles. If motorsport brings in money, the money should be there to "fix" Silverstone. Be it from the BRDC or from various businesses with an interest in F1 continuing at Silverstone.

It's a little unfair to compare it to the Olympics. The aim of the Olympics is to build new facilities and regenerate the surrounding business and residential areas.

I wonder what Silverstone could do with a only fraction of Bernie's money?

Mr Ecclestone says Silverstone is the bottom of a list... HIS list. If he actually attended races in the same way us mere mortals do his view would be different. I have attended races abroad -Belgium, Hungary, Italy, Spain,France as well as Silverstone. I have to say most of the spectator facilities were better here. The amount demanded by him FROM the circuits for the benefit of hosting the race is disgusting. Most spend the entire year earning enough to pay for that dubious pleasure. To complain about the lack of money being spent by Silverstone to upgrade while taking huge payments is shoddy. His only interest is in what he can get and his yearly moans only make him look more of a fool.

Well, I for one like the track and almost all the pure racing drivers love it as well. Not that i am a racing driver unless i am on my play station:), I mean corners like stowe, the becketts complex, are a real challenge for the driver and also for the race engineers to get it 100% right. So i guess they shouldnt drop it for these reasons. I know the facilites at silverstone are pretty appaling compared to the new circuits but come on who cares the drivers love the spectators love so who the **** is Bernie, he can go and **** himself!!!!

Not living in the UK any more, but not for tax purposes, I wouldn't want to see tax payers money being spent on Silverstone, to then have Silverstone pay Bernie for the privilege of hosting a GP. Isn't that kinda like the tax payer paying Bernie?
