Was he in a coma during the RB/MS years?

Either way, this spells the end of any Alonso to Ferrari rumours in 09 cause we all know how he works in an team where drivers are equal.

F1 » Luca: Ferrari's driver policy always equal.

Raikkonen and Massa to duel it out on-track for supremacy in new season, despite the Finn's title success this year.

Before we get too many crazed McLaren fans ranting about how the drivers aren't treated equally at ferrari, read the story carefully and you'll see that the team starts off with the drivers equal and then plays favorite later in the year to bring home the championships. This is how it should be with all the teams in my opinion. This would have been bad news for Alonso last year of course as Hamilton was comfortably ahead in the final part of the season, but it definately brings more of a team feel to the sport.

If they're going to make everyone equal, they why not just have 22 different teams with one car each?

Always equal at Ferrari? Who is Luca trying to kid? I have always been a huge Ferrari fan, but this is pure nonsense. Look at 1999. Eddie Irvine made way for Michael several times at the beginning of the season. If he had not, he would have had enough points to win the championship after Michael was injured. Then Mika Salo made way for Eddie. Michael was number one from the beginning of every season. It may be different this year, we will have to see, but let's not try to rewrite history.

Andrew P...I'm in full agreement with you but I think while Luca was in a coma he was in the next bed to James (2 comments later).
James mate !! LisaLasVegas is right, you've overlooked the season when MS broke his leg at Silverstone 1999 and by seasons end was considerably behind on points to EI but scored points for the CONSTRUCTORS championship ( his own words ) when he could/should have been more supportive to EI who was going for the DRIVERS championship thus allowing MH to take the title. Also I can't rememba what season it was when RB pointedly moved over on the finish line ( an early race as I recall ) 'cos he got the phonecall from above.Didn't he do that more than once ?!

This is incredible. History and evidence suggests RD is a big liar. Despite that every now and then somebody believes him. Andrew, why do you think drivers at McLaren were equal? Because RD repeatedly said so. Hamilton was pushed up, to do this RD inevitably had to curb Alonso. Didin't work out though, Alonso proved too strong and Hamilton too weak, they ended up equal on points.

Who's Luca Baldisserri kidding? Anyone who saw the Austrian GP back in 2002 (in answer to your question, sennaforever), when the championship wasn't at stake yet, knows that is complete BS. Sure, MS was a better driver than RB (he "repaid" him with the US GP that same year) who showed he didn't really need the help, but for Ferrari to come out and say "we've always treated our drivers equally" is really asking for trouble.

I'm a Ferrari fan but come on, this is just a little silly. I agree if LisaLasVegas; if you that's how Ferrari intends to operate from now on then well and good, but I hope they don't think we'll swallow that nonsense.
