Was he in a coma during the RB/MS years?

Either way, this spells the end of any Alonso to Ferrari rumours in 09 cause we all know how he works in an team where drivers are equal.

F1 » Luca: Ferrari's driver policy always equal.

Raikkonen and Massa to duel it out on-track for supremacy in new season, despite the Finn's title success this year.

If it keeps the FIA out of a teams internal affairs, then I'm all for it.

They had no right in interfere in Hungary. It was an internal matter.

I also read that they had a man inside the McLaren garage to ensure that Alonso got even treatment. the guy went away satisfied.

It looks like I'm a little late to join this discussion, but here's my "two cents worth" anyway:

This just shows how absurd the idea of banning "team orders" is!

F1 has always been, and should always be, a TEAM sport. This goes all the way back to the days of Fangio when one could win a championship by taking over another driver's car to complete a race. The sport's dual nature of Driver's AND Constructor's championships makes things far more interesing in my opinion. Let the team manage ALL resources and strategy however they wish.

Ferrari must believe that they exist on a different plane where everyone believes everything they say and they can do nothing wrong...

Chris mate take your Ferrari blinkers off, MS would have tried harder if he had been in the frame for the drivers championship and you know it, he had NO intention of helping EI out because as NO.1 ( number one not joint equal ) driver neither he OR Ferrari wanted the cheaper driver to beat him to the Drivers championship. MS was ALWAYS revered for his analytical racing brain and he was informed exactly where EI was at any one time which enabled him to drive just hard enough to keep the points out of reach. As I recall, even Brundle commented at the time about how hard MS wasn't trying so I don't think I' m alone in my view...come on people give us a show of hands please

Just to clarify 1999

At the Malaysian GP, MS let EI through into 1st place, and that meant Eddie was 4 points ahead Mika Hakkinen going into the final race.

In the next, and final race, MS chased after MH all race in an attempt to get past him and then slow him so EI could catch up. As he couldnt pass MH, he still held his second place because it didnt matter if EI got into second, he would then tie on points with MH and would lose on the basis Mika had 4 or 5 wins already to EI's 3

Andre, I seem to recall that MS only moved over for EI when the DRIVERS championship was just about beyond reach it just enabled EI to consolidate his 2nd place at seasons end :?

Does anybody in this forum actually think RB was better than MS? It was fair treatment. They even made RB a different set of pedals, because he liked to brake with the right foot - MS used the left foot to brake. RB just got beaten on the track, almost every time they got out together, even in testing. When he came back from his broken leg, even MS had to move out of the way of EI.

Oh, why can't they just shut up? This just gives more cred & respect to the few remaining teams that actually do their talking on track (i.e. BMW) instead of constantly having to tell the press how much better than everyone else they are.

I think the scene is still fresh in everybody's mind the day when RB had to slow down & move aside under team orders to allow MS to pass. The whole world saw that on live television. One doesn't have to be a Ferrari hater to see through that farce. Perhaps with Todt out of the way, things may change at Ferrari but I wouldn't bet on it. Ferrari does have an infamous past.
