I hope he'll stay cos there's a good chance BMW will be up there next year - probably just as likely as McL being there given the circumstances. I think NH is one of the greatest drivers on the grid and him going to McL as number two would be a terrible waste of talent. He's proved many times that he's quick and that he can lay down some hard work where it's needed instead of whining and making excuses as soon as things go wrong, and he's been pretty consistent too. Ideal driver for any team really. Thus I really hope he has the sense to stay at BMW instead of acting as setup maid for LH. Although if he did go to McL, I wouldn't be too surprised if he ended up outpacing LH.

Ideally, i feel Mc would lime to have someone like Nick to help develop the car, since LH is very young. As good as he maybe it showed in the last two races that experience in F1 is golden. So yea Mc should try and get an more experienced F1 driver who is good at developing cars, they have LH for sheer speed. But as more time goes by the list of the candidates gets shorter. So lets see who ends up at MC. My money would be on Pedro but you never know!

A good call and makes sense, also sounds like Mclaren is under pressure from Mercedes..just the right driver for Mclaren in the short term whilst credibility and reputations are rebuilt, but he is giving up a lot if he leaves BMW

both mclaren and mercedes have got to think. they are running out of german drivers to hire so they may have to go for the fastest guy possible. as for developing the car. mclaren could do that with the engineers they have plus any driver on the grid should have decent developing skills, otherwise he/she sould not be there.

i'll always have money on kovalainen but mercedes may prefer someone like klien now. based near germany, already raced against lewis and has matured since his way too early debut.

Sorry Sid, I was behind you until your last sentence,PDLR is a very good test driver and gives excellent technical feedback but he never really cut in a racing situation, bit like Alex Wurz actually, I think they could both give a good performance in the early days but I think if drivers stay out of racing for too long it seems to blunt their potential another one that springs to mind was Jos Verstappen.I'm still going with H Kov.or N.Ros. but it wouldn't surprise me if it was someone completely unexpected.
Hold the front page!! it may be Nigel Mansell Oh no they've tried that one before

Does anybody have any info about Bruno Spengler?
I have seen is name being mentionned as a possible Mclaren driver for next year, but can't find any solid info.
I know he is doing quite well in DTM, but it is almost impossible here in Quebec to have good info about this serie wich is not broadcasted here.
So if anybody have any info about how possible it could be for him to join Mclaren team, i would like to know.

I think if we are gonna start reeling off tourning car drivers Priaulx deserves a mention.

Why do I think Pedro stayed at the team after his involvement after the spy saga?

I think they like him a lot. He knows the car inside out, he's older and experienced.

Klien sounds like a likely lad too for me.

Ralph had a harsh time at Toyota but don't forget he won 6 gp for Williams. We all saw how Heidfeld turned around his fortunes at BMW, this time last year a lot of people thought he was lucky to have a drive this season.

I can see team FIA walking it next season, the fight for 2nd to 5th in the constructors should be great though.

I read Ralf had been told quite explicitly to sod off by McLaren, so I'd be very surprised to see him in that seat next year. Heidfeld is also very unlikely, because BMW won't let him go - all their young drivers have seats elsewhere next year, so they need Nick to stay. Rosberg will be very expensive, so no go unless they have no other options I guess.

De la Rosa is the most likely and safe option they have, but they could go the DTM route: unlike the WTTC, DTM cars are more like formula cars with bodywork, and drivers have switched to F1 before. Merc have some very good guys there (Paffett, Spengler), which might be a long shot, but they're more likely than either Heidfeld or Ralf!
