What would I give to see F1 cars racing around Laguna Seca? Much better than some yawnsome half-oval plus a quick tour of a thrown-together infield.

F1 » F1 set for Indy return?

Indy may be off the F1 schedule in 2008 - but is a return to the famous 'Brickyard' just around the corner..?

With the problem of Michelin tyres out of the way.I would say that F1 would be more than welcome. When I'am in America (Mainly Florida)I have yet to see French cars or Italian for that matter, see a few Ferraries but that is about all.

Robsy - Got to agree with you there, great track and would be a nice change but its nowhere near wht Bernie would demand....and I think the last F1 car to go around that track was at some event 1-2 years ago and was tanking it in 52-53 seconds...

Think Vegas is the place to suit F1 in the states or maybe the likes of Miami

In terms of races in the US - how about Long Beach on the west coast (you would have to buy the rights off Champcar), plus Miami on the east coast - presumably a street circuit plus a race in the mid west such as Road America (though you would have to upgrade it to F1 standards) or Indy

Or Road America?

If they are going to go to indy they should do most of the Oval going all the way round to Turn 3 before going to an infield then back out at turn 4.

Surely if the ALMS go there (Road America that is) then it must be half way to getting to the high expectations of Bernie?

While I love going to Laguna Seca, but it really is not the right track for F1. When Indycar and Champcar raced there, there was very little passing. It is better for sports cars and motorcycles. Road America would probably be the best existing track.

How cool would it be if it was in Central Park in New York or Golden Gate Park in San Francisco? I agree if it stays at Indy they need to use more of the oval. The main problem with Indy is that it is too flat and slow. If you are going to make a track that slow you need some elevation changes.

I suppose the "Glen" would be a good circuit to have an F1 race on it...

The problem with the Glen and Road America is that they are so far from a major city. I would rather see it at Infineon (Sears Point) Raceway than the Glen. But I am little biased as it is the closest to where I live.
