Not a great shock, it has been the worst kept secret in F1.
Renault being found guilty of spying & then let off, then FA signing for Renault.
Makes you wonder what sort of relationship, or if a deal, was made betwen Briatore, MM, BE & the FIA.
Hope Heiki gets the Mclaren seat, & shows that he is as good a drive as Briatore doesn't think he is.

So he's done a deal for a year. Great, that's commitment for you isn't it? Would you give him technical details when you know he is off to Ferrari the next year? Only if he was't allowed in the factory and had to wear blinkers when he's in the garage. I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him. Briatore is as dodgy as they come, so they deserve eachother. Good riddance.

If Heikki gets the McLaren seat, it's good news. If he manages to challenge Lewis (and he will get the chance; Fernando had there everything he needed to win but was complaining too much too often), it's good news. There will be some quality racing at the top. Under condition, of course, that McLaren gets a race seat from the FIA.. And this ain't a fact. The FIA is a bit puzzling..

It has also been rumoured that Kovalainen would go to McLaren should Alonso decide to return to Renault, but I thought would have stayed and then have Fisichella dropped. I do not think McLaren will sign a new driver to partner Hamilton until they know where they stand with their 2008 car. I just feel if I was running that to make sure that there was no interlectual property from Ferrari on my cars I would run a diesel powered F1 car as two fingers to Ecclestone and Mosley.

Rob Shillito,
don't talk so much ****, we have all seen just what a mardy bugger Alonso is & he certainly can't cut the mustard when he's faced with another decent team mate.

Now when he won in the Renault 05/06 cars they were different & on Michelin rubber, he aint got that same luxury this year.

He's going to be very dissapointed this year because he just left one of the best cars in the pits we all know that, & you sound as if your just another person full of jealousy for Ferrari, never mind, it's a pitty that he may end up there & as a big Ferrari fan I personaly would hate to see him there, Kimi will be even stronger this year.

Nigel,

he has never been beaten by a team mate in the points table, the worse he ever got was a equal.(yes he lost on count back, but equal wins)

and the team boss openly admitted he didnt speak to Alonso from Hungary onwards, so effectively he had no manager to work with. not a bad record really.

Earlier this year pat symonds who has worked with a young senna, a young schumi and young Alonso and he put him in the same class as both. he said that in april! when no one thought he was going back to renualt

to all of you! just do watch F1 instead of making speculation, rumours and bad comments... you are no difference with the FIA... are you a FIA fans or Mosely fans or Bernie???? which are you in??? I rather just support my favorite team and drivers rather than giving a bad critics, everyone of us not exactly knows what really happens.. yes it was in the news, it was on TV, radio and news papers.. but some are rumours , gossip and no evidence... get learn... and stay professionals.. cheers
