Where now for Heikki?

I know he is well respected as a tester/developer but as a McLaren fan I wouldn't want Pedro in a race seat. He was significantly slower than Kimi in 2006 (which admitedly may suit the whole Lewis favouritism thing) and lets not forget he was heavily involved in 'Ferrarigate'. I would love to see Lewis & Heikki in a young and exciting, but admitedly inexperienced team, with Pedro providing the experience from behind the scenes.

Heikki going to mclaren would be a big mistake! After all mclaren are not even sure if they will be able to race in 2008!

Heikki should ask Honda for a testing role in 2008. Heikki has already tested and help develop two championship winning cars at Renault. Heikki could use those skills under Ross Brawn at Honda. Rubens is probably done with F1 after 2008 or 2009. Then Heikki could move into the racers seat for Honda alongside Jenson Button. The car would have been developed by Ross Brawn and Heikki would know all about it.

Heikki to Honda get my vote! :)

Heiki will either go to Mclaren, Toyota or Force India, but i think he would opt for Mclaren.

Wow Rajiv, that's a pretty neat plan there. I really hope Heikki is as clever as you...

Anyway, while I agree with both of you I have to say that Heikki to Honda gets my vote too!

Mc Laren has a million dollar chance to have really fast and nice team - player Heikki Kovalainen for its team. After that they could focus on developing fast enough car for both drivers! I bet that Heikki is faster than Lewis and hopefully we will see it during next year 2008!

As everybody can see from Renault's desicion, Fernando Alonso did not want faster driver as his team mate (Heikki Kovalainen). Fernando is not winner type at all and he was just lucky to having winner car earlier! Propably this is only good thing for Heikki if Mc Laren is going to hire him. Heikki will win championship in the next year!

Heiki is a great driver IMHO, he should not go to McLaren.
There is far too much money on Hamilton's name to allow anybody to cast some shade upon his image.
LH IS nº1, the other McLaren driver WILL be nº2.

Heiki won't go to McLaren as they don't want two young drivers. Besides, both Heiki as Lewis can't really develop a car properly. So McLaren needs an experienced driver with good development skills.

Kovalainen doesn't deserve to be unemployed next year and he has to be in the running for the McLaren seat, at least he has to be higher up than Sutil on the shortlist. Very unlucky to lose his seat in Renault due to what must be Alonso's contractual small print.

If we go on pace and potential, the seat at is his and despite what people say, it would be an awesome opportunity to drive for McLaren at this stage.

I still think De La Rosa will get it to keep McLaren Vodaphone Mercedes key Spanish partners happy and also the car needs to be developed and he has proved very capable in this area as test driver.
