They had a proven guy in there - his name was Mike Gascoyne and he led them to their most successful season in 2005...but they sacked him. Why? Because he wanted to do what he wanted, and do what was best for the team. The Toyota hierarchy wouldnt stand for it.

Also, i think Toyota's F1 budget is greater than Mclarens, dont quote me on that one though, its just something that i heard a while ago...

"We studied our performances in 2007 and we believe we have found areas where we have to improve.

They beleive they have found areas to improve. They need to stop being politicaly correct. They were beat by their customer teams last year. They need to start acting as though nothing but first will do and then they will start winning. I am not sure but assuming the manufacturers size I would think their Racing budget is only beaten by Ferrari and McLaren. They should have been in the front pack a long time ago. They need to go the route of Honda and get a proven leader like Ross Brawn and let him build the team how he sees fit. Then they will have a chance.

I have lent my copy of "The Black Book" to an F1 aficionado friend of mine. This gives you the budgets of all the teams, and if my memory serves me well Toyota's budget is the largest by some degree.

Toyota's budget was 1.2 billion! For quite some time, I assume its still the same. Ferrari was around 800mill per yr.

Toyota should have pulled out a very long time ago, next yr will be even worse for the team, oh well its only money for toyota, just sell more cars...

Can it not be the case of having a good car, but not so good drivers who cannot exploit its potential?
I reckon Alonso should of gone to Toyota, his skills and knolwedge in how to set the car up would transform Toyota. With there budget they could afford a top driver and the neccesary engineers to drive the team to the front.
I reckon that Toyota will have another dismal season.

I have always said that Toyota should have stuck to the WRC, and I still stand by that. I believe there is a greater synergy between road cars and the WRC, Toyota would be better going back to their rallying roots.

Just look at their WRC heritage and compare it with their experience in F1. Ford sold their F1 slot as they were getting beaten all the time, look at their WRC team since then, they have won the manufacturers title twice in a row.

Come on Toyota give up on F1 and come back to rallying! Happy New Year!

They aint got a chance in hell because they dont listen to the people in the know. But they will still be in Formula One. Toyota are too proud to give up F1 knowing they have failed. I would have pulled out all the stops to get Ross Brawn as Team Boss
