They had a proven guy in there - his name was Mike Gascoyne and he led them to their most successful season in 2005...but they sacked him. Why? Because he wanted to do what he wanted, and do what was best for the team. The Toyota hierarchy wouldnt stand for it.

Also, i think Toyota's F1 budget is greater than Mclarens, dont quote me on that one though, its just something that i heard a while ago...

In two years time, and if Toyota have not improved?
They should do what jaguar did, sell up and move out and let some new team come in with their assests.
End of the day Toyota are F1's richest teams, Who says money will get you to the top of the podium (in Toyota's case).
Williams had their engine and did well.
It was the case many years back when Arrows were one of the two/three teams that used supertech engines and they had the fastest car in a straight line and that was down to their designer (sorry i forgot his name)

Toyota have doen a number of things wrong, most noticeably by not getting involved enough. There was that telling comment about Sir Franks assistance with understanding 'F1 politics' - after they've been on the grid for ye**** Then there is the whole Castle Toyota thing going on with their German base. Its too far out of the mainstream of activity; they should be based at least partly in the Motorsport Valley like everyone else but STR & Ferrari. You can spend as much as you like on your team, but if you aren't in the informal mix, you are nowhere. I'm not taling espionage here, but you need to be in the noise to hear any of it, right? Two more years won't put that right.

Thanks for the update Perry. You would think with roughly $393 million they should be right behind Ferrari in the manufacturers title. The bosses at Toyota should stop being so proud and realize no matter how much money you throw at something, there is still a method to winning. I appretiate that they did amazing things in the automotive world by doing it their way. But in F1 cutting edge is what counts, not the ability to copy and streamline. They need to be inovators and with that budget they should have been for a couple of years now. I say two years is to long, start now.

If they could coax Eddie Jordan out of retirement, they could give him the 300 million, he could spend a third of it, get better results than they have, put the other two thirds in his pocket, everybody happy.

Apologies for my earlier statement. Here are the figures from the latest Black Book.
McLaren US$493.1m
Ferrari US$401.25m
Toyota US$392.7m
Williams US$192.85m
I've included Williams for obvious reasons. Toyota have been big spenders for many years.

They aint got a chance in hell because they dont listen to the people in the know. But they will still be in Formula One. Toyota are too proud to give up F1 knowing they have failed. I would have pulled out all the stops to get Ross Brawn as Team Boss

I have always said that Toyota should have stuck to the WRC, and I still stand by that. I believe there is a greater synergy between road cars and the WRC, Toyota would be better going back to their rallying roots.

Just look at their WRC heritage and compare it with their experience in F1. Ford sold their F1 slot as they were getting beaten all the time, look at their WRC team since then, they have won the manufacturers title twice in a row.

Come on Toyota give up on F1 and come back to rallying! Happy New Year!
