What a cop out. Stepney has already started work with a GT team, but this kind of statement is just so weak and no doubt potentially libelous towards Stepney. I am certainly looking forward to reading Stepney's side of the story (due in a book with all proceeds to charity, I believe) because Ferrari and Luca di Montizemelo are just being sickeningly self righteous about the whole affair even now. Never have I wanted McLaren (with Ron at its head) to win a world championship more! No doubt I'll now get slated by all of the Ferrari sycophants...

Hi there guys.
I'm the Mark who wrote with the caps, never intended to shout, so 1000 apologies.
From now on I will be writing signing as Mark B to avoid confusion with the other Mark.
I just wonder if and how can anyone body believe N.S. because I honestly cannot trust a person who has gone against a contract which he whole heartedly endorsed and having the huge financial return, I also doubt his motives. This is because he and M.C. have been reported of going to other teams offering their services and this happened before their spy project was uncovered.

The two above posts by Mark were not from me. Anyone familar with my posts should know that I would not shout (caps lock) my post. I have registered to minimize any confusion.

Iank maybe you should have asked what the differences were instead of similarities. Answer Renault did not go before the FIA with inaccurate testimony. Worst case Mclaren lied best case they were grossly negligent.

If NS did know where any bodies were burried we will never know now.

I think that the Coughan case will be a bit different because he actually used the info and cared enough to have copies made.

TO ANY1 WHO IS CLAIMING THAT FERRARI WERE ALSO INVOLVED AND SOMEHOW BENEFITED FROM N.S.SPYING, I CAN ONLY QUOTE R.D. WHO RECENTLY ADMITTED THAT TECH INFO FROM FERRARI HAD GONE DOWN MUCH DEEPER WITHIN HIS TEAM THAN HE INITIALLY THOUGHT ( OR CLAIMED) SO THIS ALL SHOWS THAT MCLAREN BENEFITED HEAVILY FROM D ESPIONAGE AND NO MATTER WHAT N.S.SAYS, HE KNEW HE COULD NOT PASS ANY INFO TO OTHER COMPETITORS IN FACT HE TRIED TO MISLEAD FERRARI BY LYING. PEOPLE LIKE N.S.& M.C. TAINT THE SPORT AND FIA SJOULD B MORE VIGILANT & SEVERE WHEN THESE CASES COME TO LIGHT.
TRULY SORRY 4 R.D. & HIS PRIVATE PROBLEMS AND WISH HIM ALL THE BEST TO SOLVE HIS PROBS IN BENEFICIAL MANNER 4 HIS FAMILY.

Ok then, so Nigal Stepney has got away with it, sort of.
But.. what about mike couglan involment?. is he going to court soon aswell and be questioned?
Is Mike Couglan still an employee of McLaren? Or is he on gardening leave or been sacked?

The FIA can only sanction a license holder. No license, no power. But anyone who thinks Stepney will work in F1 again for a few years must be very naive. The FIA's warning will be very effective.

And, IanK, if you really think there is some great plot involving Stepney, you are dreaming. Talk to anyone in F1 about him.

Donkey. The only person who has said Stepney obtained information from McLaren for Ferrari is Stepney himself. There is no trace of this suggestion in any of the transcripts and certainly no such claim from the FIA. It is clearly nonsense.

Powerline 2008. The suggestion that Ferrari planted Stepney on McLaren is absurd. They would not have sacrificed their best mechanic when any of a number of staff members could have handed over the information. And Ferrari have done their part in bringing charges against him - the matter is now in the hands of the magistrate.

By all means be anti-Ferrari but make an accurate, or at least realistic case (if you can).

This decission by MM & his cronies, strikes of the FIA trying to hide your dirty little secrets. We all know the FIA are LDM's lapdogs & roll over @ his whim, so is this decission an LDM whim?
NS admited that there was a passing of information, the same was true of the renault spying incident, but why was only Maclaren disadvantaged in both cases?
What was the similarities between both cases? Answer LDM & FB are both friends of MM, & they all appear to dislike RD & appear to be trying every trick in the book to run RD & Maclaren out of the sport. The FIA members are corrupt & need to be changed.
I hope that when NS's book is published we can see the full story. stick it to them maclaren

With each passing day, Stepney is appearing more & more to be a mole planted by Ferrari. I can't imagine that the FIA would classified what Stepney did as nothing more than an "allegation" - after they fined McLaren $100 million & stripped them of all contructors points. As I said many times before, the fact that Ferrari to date has not filed criminal charges against Stepney only add doubt to the whole story.

What amazes me is this was a two way flow of information admitted by both parties and acknowledge by the FIA.
Yet it is only Mc Laren who have faced punishment we all know from the information that was passed back to Ferrari that they also have had an advantage in knowing how aspects of the Mc Laren car worked.

It been a long time since this was a sport it now all about money
