It's sad to see SA fail to raise enough funds to remain in F1.
My fear is that soon it will become a manufacturers only series which is a dangerous risk. The manufacturers are in F1 not for any nostalgic love of the sport but because they see it as a marketing opportunity, to build their prestige.
The moment it's benefit as a marketing tool diminishes or they have to tighten their belts due to commercial pressures they will pull out of F1 without a second thought... remember ford & jaguar team? And if one of the big names pull out and F1 is seen as being no longer competitive then there is no more commercial benefit we'll be left with an empty grid.
Is this the thin end of the wedge?

It is sad to see any F1 team forced to leave the grid. That being said: finding the resources to successfully compete is part of the competition in F1. Some are better at this than others. Super Aguri was not successfull at this part of the competition.

@yamaha r1 - Considering the amount you have posted in support of Mosley during his scandal this is a bit rich coming from you. SA may have been able to attrack the required sponsors if this scandal had not happened or if Max had been man enough to step down. The true cost to the series as a direct result of Max's deviant behavior is still unknown. They may need to scrap Q1 next year if they loose any more teams.

I too was very saddened that another Independent Formula 1 team in the shape of Super Aguri has bitten the dust again. It is tough in there and they have and they did embarrass the "full factory" team. The problem is now in Formula 1 is now dominated by the manufacturers Mercedes, Ferrari, BMW for example. But as for what was said earlier. Audi are committed to the ALMS, ELMS and the DTM in Germany which may overstretch the resources that Wolfgang Ulrich and Ralf Juttners have at their dispoabal in running Audi's motorsport programme. I think the customer teams would have worked as it would have reduced costs and might have made Formula more competitive. We have in sportscars and it works.

SA never had a plan to find money, employing one person (with zero previous experience) in a team of 100, to 'try'. They lacked commercial capability, focus and strategy, and forgot the basic, that if you don't bring money in, you can't spend it!

SS Unlimited = farce. Reported at €11m - and whilst that's a lot of money, it should never be enough to bring about the demise of the team. SS Unlimited looked (a lot) more like a money laundering deal, and the team was warned. Daniel Audetto (CEO), Kevin Lee (COO), and Wayne Humphreys (Fin. Dir.) were each culpable, as they were in the Arrows days. Humphreys has bankrupted the last four companies he's 'financially controlled'!

Fry = ****

There seems to be almost unanimity about this. The bottom line is that a bunch of talented and hard working engineers, and a pair of decent drivers, who all together were a great team of racers have been horribly let down by the business side of F1.

So if there was ever any doubt about which half of F1 was more important, here's your proof.

I hope all those true racers get themselves individually back into the sport as soon as possible, and I hope the self-aggrandizing, half-witted and seriously deluded managers and money-men who have made such a hash of all this crawl away and are never let near anything that affects peoples livelihoods our fans enjoyment again.

mark...sa were in trouble before max's hobbies were exposed and have nothing to do with it so think before you speak you plank if F1 is in trouble it is because it is **** and as interesting as watching paint dry and bikes are my main passion and there is more excitement and racing in one lap than a whole year of FORMULA BORING.
