Where to start. Lets discount the ''spontaneous support'' pap straight off. MM has already given away to the CRH incredible powers over F1, and there is no reason to think despite this letter that he won''t do so again given another 18 months as president. The comments on the GPMA breakway threat are pretty hollow, and he seems to be insinuating that a team is responsible for his exposure. The threat of breakway clubs wouldn''t have anything to do with the long-standing disatisfaction with MMs presidency would it? The Deputy Presidents move is a way of pulling back waverers. In short - its everyones fault but Max.

Robsy It's not good enough to say the spontaneous support claim is "pap" and the comments on GPMA "hollow". You need to give reasons. And what , precisely are the "incredible powers" given to the CRH?

If there really is "disatisfaction" with Mosley's presidency among the FIA member clubs, surely he will lose the vote?

The letter is a bit long but looks to me cogent, well reasoned and on the face of it convincing. If you want to criticise it, you need to argue to the same standard and meet his points properly. Vague attempts like yours, Robsy, are just not up to it.

Mike, you are quite correct in pulling me up - my problem was trying to tackle an 8-screen letter in 700 characters. The spontaneous support comments struck me as a typical political defense, along the lines of 'I have recieved many supportive comments from my colleagues' as uttered by a number of British MPs just after being caught with their hands in the till/down someones trousers. DO we really expect a sudden outpouring on official club paper from around the world to the effect of 'Max - sorry you were caught with 5 hookers. Please carry on the good work of representing motoring and motorsport to the world'. I think not. cont...

cont (2)Dissatisfaction seems to Max to be amongst the large mobility clubs. These are big commercial organisations, but its still one club one vote, so Max is seeking to portray their 'Bye Max' comments as being about him trying to stop them creating cross-border reciprocal roadside assistance deals, and less about him recreating the Holocaust to get himself off.

I also don't buy the argument that if he goes now, the FIA will be all at sea. There are, strictly speaking, 100 years to sort the CRH issue. There are already bound to be manouevers by candidates - why would these people not consider coming forward October 09? He's setting hares running, to scare minor clubs.

cont(3) A bit seems to have got lost. This is a memory-derived repost. Incredible powers probably isn:t the right phrase - Max created the 100 year rights deal, and the kind of stitch ups around that are well documented . This letter may see the end of his £300m love affair with BE, equally it may just be manouevering to a) keep hoim in power and b) ensure BE gets the deal he's looking for. Yes, its conspiracy, but BE would create a sham showdown with the teams knowing full well they wouldn't all sign his letter, so he didn't have to either. That allows MM to look like a born-again AntiBernie, and saviour of the FIA.

Mosley's letter does not apologise for the fact that he has been revealed to enjoy simulating beating women, only for the trouble caused by the fact that he was found out, which is despicable. Mosley then goes on to lay down his platform for rigging both the vote and his succession. His fear about anybody being able to stand for the job and the need for a list of candidates to "stabilise" (ie rig) matters shows how he hates proper governance and democracy. The FIA have again been revealed as Mosley's puppets by publishing his letter and I wonder who is actually going to count the votes on the 3rd June as how can anyone have confidence that a proper, independent count will take place.
