Maybe he would adapt well to it, maybe he wouldn't. But the tiresome elitest attitude of some people gets boring. There are probably at least 4 or 5 drivers in F1 every year that probably do not deserve their seat and have bought their way into it.

daveua, Pretty sure Kyle is 23, not sure where you are getting 30 from? If he was to make the switch it's entirely possible he could do so by time he was 25/26. Isn't Bourdais nearly 30?

Just because he's a stock racer, which predominantly runs on ovals (which isnt easy, despite popular belief this side of the pond) doesn't mean he can't be successful elsewhere.

Nothing wrong with giving a new guy a test to see how he does. You never know..

redteam, to turn your logic around

"Jim Clark has little Oval Course experience, no formal training in oval courses, has never driven a car with the type of torque to weight ratio that is present in Indycars nor done 500 miles just turning left."

He still did OK though, did't he?

Although some can only excel in one type of racing, I think the really top drivers can drive anything. With the sort of money available in Nascar, you have to assume there are some aces there.

Just like that girl's announced test, this is absolute, unadulterated, pure marketing b.s. All this is for is to get Toyota in the news a little more. The end of Crashnet's line, "NEXTEL Cup leader musing over F1 test - and possibly more..." is laughable. Oh, unless we are talking about "more" reasons why "it just wasn't the right time to go" or "it just wasn't the right set of circumstances" or "it just wasn't the right ________". If this was a serious move on his or Yota's part they'd have done a private AND UNPUBLISIZED test. But that would not give the marketing boffins anything to do would it?

simon, jim clark was skilled at open wheel racing (also saloons) kb has no experience at it. big driving difference
sp3 agreed. toyota seem prepared to give anybody a test but it usually means nothing. it is just a marketing ploy.

Simon when Danica Patrick competed in her first Indy 500 in 2005 it was only the 5th time in her career that she competed on an Oval Race yet she qualified and finished 4th holding the lead on 20 Laps. Considering Clark finished 2nd in his 1st Indy 500 and was much further along in his career than Danica does Patrick's showing in the 2005 Indy 500 place her as an equal of Clark ? A little bit of a stretch don't ya think ?

The skill set to compete on Ovals is a unique but a very small one at that.

I just don't see Busch as having either the training or experience to be considered seriously for a seat in F1.

SP3 Following her victory at Motegi Danica was asked if she would like an F1 Test. Danica responded candidly that if it were a legitimate test yes she would like a test. She said she would not do an Exhibition Test. Danica did not take any initiative in the proposition.

It since has come to light that both Nick Frye and Ross Brawn have made statements that they are considering such a test as a legitimate possibility.

SP3 Whether or not a test is conducted in a public or private fashon has little bearing on whether the test is legitimate. How the test is conducted is more the matter. Specifically does a House Driver set up a baseline standard on a familiar track against which the Test driver is measured. Both Marco Andretti and Valentino Rossi were given legitmate tests in a very public manner. And there is no reason this can't be done with Danica and Busch.
