@Foo: Exactly right.

But why bother? Formula 2 is kust what this world needs: another single seater series! After all, GP2, WSR, F3 Euro, IFM, FR Eurocup, A1, Superleague (or what the heck this new joke is called), and and and aren't enough already. Waste of time, effort, energy and budget. And all the more confusing. Cause: is this new F2 hack gonna replace GP2? Or just the GP2 Name? Or is it gonna be completely new?

In the end: another brainfade idea of the FIA, whose dementia seems to be growing day by day.

Nope, it appears to be true.

Check formula1.com and find the article about how F1 will be governed in the future.

Are the clowns at the FIA living in the real world. We have FBMW, F3 Euro3 GP2 , WS by Renault and now they plan want 200000 Euro F2. Well I'm sure FBMW @ 400000 euros this year would be attractive for some @ 20000 euros next year.
How teams woold pay the machanics and engineers and truckies and run the trucks etc may be a mystery that only the brains at the FIA can solve :)

Err, "GP2 is the closest thing to F1". GP2 races at the same tracks as F1. Drivers in GP2 aim to move up to F1. Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't that make GP2 an F1 feeder series which, correct me if I'm wrong, was what it was conceived as.

So how exactly would this F2 series with it's low budget be a feeder series to F1? Surely it would just be a feeder to GP2.

The FIA really are making themselves look a bit silly lately :rolleyes:
