Donnington what can I say its the pits the access is crap the location is rubbish & if you think this weekend was wet wait until Derbyshires skys open...Mr Ecclestone, unfortunatley, is only interested in one thing his pocket..Silverstone is a great track one of the last high speed track around & the proximity allows for everyone to gain access....it really is about time that the F1 administration looked towards the fans & not their bank accounts...after all if it wasn't for the business deals in Monaco every year do you really think that circuit would be on the calend******???

F1 » Donington Park F1 deal not set in stone

Silverstone may yet host the British Grand Prix post-2009, it has been revealed - but only if newly-announced home Donington Park fails to get itself up to F1 standard in the required time frame.

to binza:
They don't have to rebuild the existing pits (or track sections for that matter), they can just build a new set of pits, hospitality areas etc on a new site (maybe along one of the new extended track sections?) while still using the old facilities, then tear the old ones down and maybe build stands or something there when the new ones are done. If they do it cleverly they probably won't have to close the circuit down at all!

If Donington isn''t ready by 2009 Bernie Ecclestone has said that the UK grand prix will not be included in the 2009 F1 calendar.
