I think Jughead should take some time off and concentrate on banging the ladies, capping off a nice F1 career when you''re starting to lose your reflexes and putting in sub-par performances in a lower category might keep your name fresh but it won''t necessarily enhance your reputation. Whatever he does, I wish him the best, what a fantastic character he is!

F1 » F1 retiree Coulthard linked with DTM switch

Following in the wheeltracks of former McLaren-Mercedes team-mate Mika Hakkinen, Ferrari star Jean Alesi and Germans Heinz-Harald Frentzen and Ralf Schumacher, could David Coulthard be the next F1 race-winner to grace the DTM?

better ex-F1drivers have gone to DTM and have not shone. these include the hak. currently ralf, who was ok in F1, is trailing around at the rear of the field, battling with katherine and susie. i cannot see DC being any better. however, there is a certain amount of contact experienced, so maybe he will feel at home!

rich ard bear in mind Ralf is in an old car, as is former champ Paffet for example, so they're not surprisingly languishing just ahead of the girls. Put them in a top car and they'd perform. (Ralf and Paffet that is, not the girls!) (not sexist, just realist.)

What's interesting here is the Red Bull link means one of the top Audis, which could mean race wins. Maybe Tomczyk making way for DC? He hasn't really turned up yet in '08.

fair comment max, however at the front some of the two year old cars were beating the new cars. i think susie is in a one year old car. but competing with the two girls even in equal cars, is no commendation. tomczyc is the son of the german motorsport supremo and i cant see him being ousted . but may be wrong. when hak was running, he was in a new car but couldnt beat schneider etc or even some of the older cars.these older cars actually run lighter making them more competitive. the excuse for ralf is that he is used to open wheel racing and is nervous of contact!?!?

I know you don't like DC rich, but what has the performance of other drivers got to with DC? Some drivers adapt to or are better at different types of racing than other. DC might go to DTM and be successful, then again he might not. But until he tries no one will know.

foo, i dont dislike DC, in fact in his early years in F1 i was quite an admirer of his. but over the last few years, he has tended to get a little bitter, and blame others for his misfortunes, and each year, he was saying "this is my year" and then not delivering. my post was trying to point out that ex-F1 pilots dont fare so well in DTM,and it seems to have been accepted that this is due to their open wheel expeiences where locking wheels can be dangerous. they are thus reluctant to turn in towards another car for the allowable rubbing. i dont think that DC has any saloon or sportscar experience and he would suffer. this would further harm the memories of him. hope i made myself clear.
