mosava, when he won 25 gps, there were far fewer counting for WDC. he also changed teams four times and took a sabbatical. yes he had a job at ferrari as an ambassador but how on earth do you rate that as a "disaster". also his position at jaguar was not ideal as the whole jaguar affair was a disaster. how can you blame nikki for that. answers please on a postage stamp!

Richard, Mr Lauda was in charge of the sport program of Jaguar. Like I said, it was a disaster. When Ford (Jaguar) decided to bring in a serious and proven race manager (Bobby Rahal), Mr Lauda opted for the grand "Prima Dona" show and had no relief until he managed to have Mr Rahal out of the team: and the results went from bad to worse.
For me, he is an elderly average driver with a good marketing back-up, and a lousy "journalist" on German TV.
To each his own.

And, Richard, by the way, in the sixties, there were still much fewer races, but Mr Jim Clark managed to win 25 of them in 7 years and a half, with 33 pole positions. He also managed to finish 2nd and 3rd at Le Mans 24 hours and 2nd at Monte Carlo Rally, only because the car broke.
He was a very quiet man, never talking about other drivers, never trying to "teach" anything to anybody: HE was a giant.

Right now, LH is leading by 4 points half way through the 2008 session. An F1 driver can lose a 10 points lead with a DNF in the next race. So looking at the big picture now & at the competitiveness of the top 4 or 5 teams, I think the race will go down to the wire in Brazil. The race ain't over until the fat lady sings.
