lee, don't jump the gun mate. Ferrari may be down, but they certainly aren't out yet. theres a lot of races to go, and you can bet that they'll get the problems they have fixed probably even by this coming GP, if not the next one.

LH only has 4 points over FM and 7 over KR, neither can be counted out (take last year for example), it only takes one mistake and a good finish for the ferrari's and Lewis will be looking at 3rd place in the standings.

F1 » Ferrari 'not in crisis', claims Domenicali

After extensive investigations showed that Ferrari had suffered from unforeseen tyre problems in the German F1 Grand Prix, team boss Stefano Domenicali is confident it will bounce back this week in Hungary.

Obviously "crisis" is a heavy word in the circumstances, however, I feel Domenicali is hiding few things on the condition of the cars and should Ferrari flunk the next GP they will have a mountain to climb in order to maintain the last year''s results.

Agreed. I think Ferrari are slightly panicky, as they have relied a lot this year on the car being 'kinder' on tyres than McLaren, so this issue is worrying to them. Form book has not been a good guide this year, but Hungary is more a McLaren track than a Ferrari one, so their big worry will probably be keeping Kubica and Alonso at bay. If they fail in that, I think a negative momentum inside the Scuderia will be more significant than a positve one at Woking.

Ferrari are on the way down.
The Mclaren is so hooked up and looks better with every race it does, Hamilton knows he can get even more out of that car and its already blitzing the others!

He has got a great chance this year, his nearest challenger is a mediocre driver that is now driving a mediocre to good car.

I cant hear all the doubters now???

Hamilton champ 2008

I'd love to see him do it Lee, however I fear the media will be jumping on the bandwagon and it'll be: Hamilton this, Hamilton that...

the mclaren had an advantage in silverstone and in hockenheim, both involving rain. their torque control (i will leave it up to fia to decide if this is legal or illegal) would have been of immense benefit as it would allow less chance of wheelspin coming out of a wet corner. however, given a dry race, it may be of less benefit. i am sure that if it is legal, then ferrari and others will rapidly adopt the system and the playing field will be levelled. the points difference is not great and it is difficult to see how it could be described as a "crisis".

Even in the dry they are faster than Ferrari FIA, I have no doubt that they probably will make the torque control illegal simply because it is on a Mclaren and not a FIA Ferrari.

Well, if they've gone so far as to ban engine braking I'm sure this will be banned too. It is a form of driver aid, which was exactly what they wanted to get rid of in the first place.

And please, things change quickly in F1... Half the season remains. A few races ago it was Hamilton who almost looked beaten in advance. And remember last year. I also remember that after a handful of races in MotoGP this year, some people were already dead certain that it would be between Pedrosa and Lorenzo, Rossi or Stoner had no chance of catching up. So far this is the closest championship we've had for years, for crying out loud!
