at first I liked JPM but after some time he lost his spirit and interest and became an
indifferent driver!I won't forget my surprise seeing him yawning and with sleepy eyes 10 minutes before the start of a race in his last season!

ANYONE who takes from Montoya's performance in F1 is talking **** and obviously are licking the balls of Macca. Montoya was a true great in F1. And he is absolutely right about the state of F1. THe good thing for all of us though is F1 is on a real improvement curve. 07=amazing 08=amazing and 09 is looking to be quite a revelation.

Savas, On a lighter note in the season that you reference,It was not only the driver that was yawning, probably the team as well. Ron had pretty much shut of the 2006 season once he knew all the Sponsors and Alonso were to join the team in 2007 :p
They had so many issues that year - wrongly mapped engines ,Mechanics not giving driver car thru Fri-Sat Free Practices. Their drivers running the least of all leading teams on Fridays for fear of engine reliability and resulting grid penalties.
The statistics are all out there. Enthusiasm like everything in life is two way street :)

ramjam said it Montoya's got balls and attitude. If he didnt we wouldnt be talking about him a year later.Senna,Montoya,Alonso those guys would and do race their ass off no matter what the car was running like.If the car was off they do what ever it takes to make up the difference.Someone compared Hamilton to Senna the other day.Not a chance does hammy compare.I just dont see anyone else trying to push the limits like those guys and thats the difference.I think this year is one of the best in F1 because they took away traction control and now the driver has to drive!!!

I agree with john,

tho even without TC the cars are so well balanced it hasnt made that much difference.

i like JPM, he had guts, did some great moves, and was admitted it was great to race with MS, cos schumi wasnt fair on him and he wasnt fair on Schumi. they had some great battles which sometimes kept f1 alive in some very dull pre alonso-kimi-lewis era.

“Cant we all just get along” We all have our opinions, like and dislikes for whatever reason. He's not Racing F1 any more so, what he thought when he was racing F1 doesn't matter today. Talk about Nascar, thats what you are involved in now so, worry about that. The past is the past.

what it looks like montoya (old fav of mine...pure hot blooded racer..hmmm i know another like that) was saying, was that out of the car, drivers have to take on a false standard issue persona. well i agree it's nice to see drivers speak their minds, but you only have to see the wrath on forums like this in response to even the slightest honesty uttered out of 1 particular drivers mouth to understand why this is. so don't blame the constructors , blame the naysayers that never stop looking for ammo!! yes that honesty may say 'i can win' 'i want to be champ' 'i wouldn't have let him pass' 'ask kimi how i made 1 sec over a lap on him'....i can sense the form frothing already..calm down boys...

John, you say that Hamilton doesn't deserve being talked about in the same breath as Senna, but who's brought that absolutely balls to the wall, do or die overtaking style back to F1? I've not seen Kimi, Felipe or Fernando passing like that this year! That do or die style was one of JPM's trademarks too...
