Huh..........? Back to a british team, with a british (assuming Benson stays....) team-mate..........? Not another year of Nando running to the spanish dailies, telling tales about those naughty brits again..............We did have enough of that LAST year remember.........?

Former double F1 World Champion Fernando Alonso will switch teams from Renault to Honda in 2009, it is claimed - partnering Jenson Button and replacing Rubens Barrichello.

Is he serious especially after his failed stint with McLaren? Does Alonso really want to be with a British outfit? No disrespect but Toyota may not suit his temperament.

He's gonna go to Honda and smash Renualt all next year like he is doing McLaren this year. This move will either be brilliant or a monumental disaster - nothing in between. We'll all be watching for the train wreck no doubt! Hopefully he won't do a JV or Jensen Button and let Honda flush your best years down the toilet. I wonder if Button wish he had left already? Unfortunately, I think Honda is the only one who actually still wants him.

Should have had the balls to stay at McLaren, how sad one of the 3 or 4 REAL world class drivers will be wasted at an underperforming team.

Some ask why would Alonso do this? Let's see, unlimited development budget, four wind tunnels, Ross Brawn, and 15 million. Ross Brawn wants a driver who can push a platform to the limit, and I think watching Alonso bring life to Renault with a backmarker car is clear evidence that he (Alonso)can do that. Don't forget that Ross Brawn and Michael Schumacker took Ferarri from an underperforming team to the top of the heap. The right people and an unlimited budget make up for a lot. Much as I may dislike Alonso's personality: when I watch him drive, I am in awe of his skill.

Is FA jumping out of the frying pan & into the fire or is he a rat leaving a sinking ship or both? I'd say it's both. FA is a rat.

RB has only been there a year and the more time you give him to work his magic, it can only get better for Honda. Brawn has publicly said he'd love to have Alonso driving one of his cars, so there's no surprise there either with such a big spending company behind him.

Honda clearly believe they can make an awesome car next year on slicks and with KERS after dropping Rubens, but if it was me, I would have kept Jenson too. Rubens' experience alows him to be decent and sometimes relitively quick in any type or a slower car, whereas Jenson as we all know is faster when he has the right car underneath him. Alonso and Jenson is the right descision if Honda can make a great car.

tho the ferrari werent that bad when ms and Ross went there in 96 and 97(for ross), remember alesi was fighting for wins regulary(Tho braking down) and was in the title hunt at mid season.

that aside Ross is a genius and hope he can turn honda round. alonso would be the ideal man, but id rather he stayed at renault from a personal point of view. just cos i like renault and pat symonds.

All the sites are running wih this story but there hasn't been a single quote from Fernando. Honda saying they would love him to join them hardly means Alonso is "poised to switch to honda".
He's getting more than $15mil at Renault so it seems like absolute crap to me... Something smells funny and I think Nick Fry is an ambitious, manipulative and cold-hearted little man - only time will tell what seed he has planted with this latest bout of verbal diarrhea.
