Road America would be a fantastic track for F1, it's one of the best road courses in the world.

As far as Richard Ards Cheever comment, Jean-Michel sums it up perfectly, "what have you accomplished that was so great...at least he made it there and had a few seasons...stupid comment as always".

Former Renault and Arrows F1 ace Eddie Cheever is hopeful over the future of the US Grand Prix - whose home should remain Indianapolis, he urges.

eddie, you are another american who did not make it in F1. there are many tracks in USA that would be more suitable for the GP than the artificial indy. ok, there may be potential for more spectators (to pay) but somewhere like laguna, would be far more interesting.

My vote for the USGP site would be Road Atlanta. It's a track that already hosts LeMans level sports-car racing, and is situated near a major international airport. It would require both safety & garage upgrades, but hopefully track owner Don Panoz, and the City of Atlanta (a former Olympic host which is desperate for tourism dollars) would be willing to pay for the improvements.

Indy? Thumbs down. As an American fan I was always disappointed that we couldn't build a better track for the most important championship in the world.

rich ard...i know its not about you and that is the point...why make a stupid comment about Eddie Cheever f1 career when we are talking about the US gp

they should have the race in a temporary street circuit...in miami near the beach...like the race in Surfers paradise in indy

jean, the reason i mentioned cheever is because he made the comment. he never reached the pinnacle of F1. if he had been a success in GP his opinions might be more highly regarded. maybe it is his patriotism that colours his view. street racing is not the best form of racing for F1, the cars should be on road circuits. laguna, watkins, RA, etc i am sure that the vast majority of fans would concur.

I have not accomplished anything in motorsport but I would like to see the race go to Road America. Laguna is a great track but for this formula it does not have the passing opportunities to make a great race. Even the champcar races were processions at Laguna.

Indy is the only track that can afford the F1 show. Most of the tracks you guys have mentioned are good venues. The problem would be upgrading their facility to F1 standards. It would take millions and no one is going to step up for such a loss.

I agree that Road America would be awesome. So would Atlanta or Laguna Seca. Or even Barber Motorsports Park. That looks like a great track.

As for Mr. Cheever, it's been a long time since I really listened to what he said. Mostly because whenever he talked he was usually whining about something or someone as an excuse as to why he wasn't winning. In my opinion, the only reason he won anything in the IRL is because at the time it was full of junior-league drivers and he just happened to be slightly better than they were.

It's time that the event organizers at each track that F1 goes to rise up to Scrooge McEcclestone and refuse to pay the outlandish fees he charges to put the race on.
