Ed, I'll tell you why Damon Hill is Qualified to say his piece.........1993.3rd in world championship 1994.2nd in World Championship 1995 2nd in World Championship.1996 World champion. 1997....Narrowly beaten in the Hungarian GP driving an ARROWS !!!
1998 Won the Belgian GP in a JORDAN !!....He could handle any car with great aplomb and would have no problem driving a Ferarri.

F1 » Hill attacks Raikkonen

Reigning F1 World Champion Kimi Raikkonen is just 'plodding along' in 2008, argues Britain's last title-winner Damon Hill - but due to others' mistakes and misfortunes, he is still well in the fight.

Hill was very reminiscent of his father - achieve by application and hard work rather than the by the innate talent of some of their contemporaries. That should in no way detract from their successes. Prost may have seemed "boring" or less than spectacular, but he won 4 championships, which speak far higher than a particular style of driving. Hill was lucky to have the MOST dominant car in F1 history and won the title from his rookie team-mate.
When trying to drive the arrows was no-where apart from the one race which was one of "those" races where most of the drivers were out of it.
A certain Ralph Schumacher was told to stay behind him even though he was about 1 second per lap qucker gifting the win to Hill.
As for lack luster performances how about pulling into the garage at Magny Cour for no reason other that "did not want to continue".

Hills track record is not exactly one of a driven man and is a poor example of a champion.

Hey i am british, but Hill is a fine one to speak out considering, the amount of times he made mistakes, or had accidents or went backwards in his chase for the F1 title, He got it at the 3rd attempt though!
1994 he could have made up more points while Schumacher was banned for some races, but he didnt! 1995 he crashed into schumacher twice in that season which was his (Hills) fault and shumacher won title again!
And in 1996 he could of got title earlier but Villenuve out gunned him untill the final race and Hill got title on a plate!
Fair play Hill got title back then, but he could not handle pressure that well and that showed, yet he is a good driver!
kimi is a better driver than Hill!

This is cleary a case of crash.net trying to get more out of a story than its worth.
Saying "Hill Attacks Raikkonen" is a huge exaggeration of Hill simply making a subjective observation of a situation. Nothing more.
He wasn't “attacking” Raikonen at all, or “accusing” him of anything for that matter.

Please, don't offend your readers.
We are not idiots, and can see a story for what its worth.

If there is no real story don't twist things around, or make it sound worse than it is!
Just to prove my point. Here are a few examples as a headline to this story:
Raikkonen in a rut - Hill
Damon says: "Kimi not at his best"
Hill's view on Ferrari drivers

Kimi is in a lazy stage of his F1 career at present, no-one can deny that, but the guy has massive natural talent that can also not be denied.
You cannot blame him for his apparent lack of drive. He is tottally disillusioned by the F1 circus. He hates F1, but loves to drive.

Good Driver, came good in the late stages of his career, but he is not qualified to attack a good driver like Raikonen, oh yeah could do with making up his mind

Tho damon isnt making much sense i agree.

but as a driver, he was great and very underated, he was team mates to Prost, Senna Mansell and Villeneuve. thats 9 world champions! 10 including his own. He did the best in every car he had. yes 99 wasnt good but in fairness he tried to retire mid season but they wouldnt let him.

as for SPA, he told the team that we can either race and both not finish or have a 1-2. pretty much saying if we race he WONT(one way or another) win. which is exactly what senna, schumi or alonso would of done. except they would of just done it with out telling the team.

Damon did a good job, most of which he got no credit. and he was ok on a bike at brands :)

well matt for someone who makes out he is a wizard and knows everything about F1 and knows better than people who have been involved in the sport (Lauda/Hill) nearly all their life on these threads you sure are making a few apologies, and seems you regard richard in such high esteem then you must agree with his comment posted about hill on a previous thread when richard defended hill when he changed his mind on a story about who he thought would win WDC i.e. said somethinmg different on the next day.

There seems to be far to many expert know it alls on this site
