Love how its the tracks that get all the hassle and flack as a result of a boring race. The focus should be put on how the development of the cars has stopped any sort of wheel to wheel racing rather than a track. From what I could see there was places to pass on the track and it was certainly wide enough for cars to be alongside one another and putting the bottle of the drivers to the test...but no, modern F1 cars just dont allow for the racing we''d all like to see...but instead of pointing that out, its so much easier to blame the track

F1 » Valencia panned as 'boring' track and race

The inaugural European Grand Prix to be held around Valencia's Juan Carlos I Marina circuit had been anticipated with fevered expectation - but the on-track action, or rather lack of it, failed to live up to pre-race hopes.

Completely agree Munro Gow. The other championships managed overtaking just fine and the racing was good, so the crucial factor is the F1 cars and, dare I say, drivers. Hungary was similarly processional, as have other races this year. If they sort the cars out, then every track will prompt exciting racing. Until rules make so that tracks have random obstacles in the way, produce an artifically wet race or throw some penalties around, then it is the FIA that should take the flack for making the sport dull by not keeping a reign on technology that makes it so.

In GP2 most overtaking was done by using the runoff area of the track. On a normal streetcircuit the car would be against the wall and on a normal racetrack the car would be in the grass or the gravel. The design of the track itself does not favour overtaking for high downforce cars.
While the GP2 race was at times exciting it was because they could use the room outside of the track where you are supposed to do your racing on.

the track is certainly boring. running around a dockside with no height differences. it was wider than anticipated (barring pitlane) but apart from stands, spectators were minimal. i wish we could return to the classic tracks but i reckon money talks. the removal of a lot of aerodynamic aids next year seems to be a step in the right direction in an effort to improve passing. one thing that i dont like is the easing of corners and provision of large run off strips (which are then used as part of track). i dont want crashes, but there should be more emphasis on driving skill.

the track layout isnt the best, its all looks so grey with tarmac and walls everywhere, but i watched three races live and highlights of others there that weekend, and the f1 race was the worst of all, the other races werent too bad entertainment wise.

i think F1 is the main culprit for a rubbish race this weekend. as seems to be the culprit most weekends at the moment.

Didn't see the race, however all races are turning out the same. Just a procession, you know who ever gets through the first corner in the lead will probably win. We see "over taking" in the pits now, how dull. Compare it to GP2 or touring car. Wheel to wheel racing. They say these drivers are the best in the world, but due to the cars they have to drive all we see is them drive around a track fast no over taking at all!

Boring track, boring scenery. The area where the track is located sure is ugly, there is simply nothing appealing about an industrial/docks/hangars/warehouses area. If they were shooting for something as glamorous as Monaco (as had been touted in the spanish media form months) they failed spectacularly. All those walled fences around the track, I was watching the race with my father and he commented "They look like they're racing inside a prison". I think that says it all.

This has to be one of the most boring races I have ever seen. Don''t go back there! I watched the ''highlights'' in the evening and even they were dire!
Formula Yawn.
