F1 » Bernie prays earthquake will halt Olympics

F1 ringmaster Bernie Ecclestone courts controversy by suggesting that the 2012 London Olympic Games will be a disaster after Beijing - and jokes that we should pray for an earthquake to prevent them from taking place.

You know what they say: When the going gets tough etc. Well, it looks like BE has really shown his true colours this time.

London cannot hope to match Beijing for spectacle as they just don't have 20 billion to spend and an army of obedient state workers on hand working for a pittance. But just like nobody said Athens would be any good, London will prove the doubters wrong by playing to their strengths and concentrating on sport rather than political posturing.

BE could have helped. He could have applied his loyalty, expertise, contacts and effort. Instead he chooses to snipe from the sidelines. No surprise there then.

What an ass! I can see how he believes it's gonna be tough to follow the Beijing games but to say it in that way is a bit over the top. It's like he wants the London games to fail. And to use the earthquake thing in so insensitive that it's sad. What a sad little man. Bernie, please go away.

We all know what's important to BE and that is why he doesn't want to get involved. He can't see a way to make money from it. Having taken this stance, he then goes on to rubbish the UK's attempt 4 years before the event.

Bernie wasn't there for the Olympics.

Find the Beijing velodrome on Google Maps and check out the perimeter road. That's why he was in Beijing - the GP's going there in 2010.

Blimey!.... you lot really have some fierce hatred for little Bernie and I can see why, but............I do there is a little bit of truth in his words, if they are his words that is.
Britain is pathetic. Run by a pathetic government that cares not a jot about it's people and their views. Britain follows the USA around like a coward behind the playground bully.
The UK cant afford an Olympic games. We are in massive debt and in a hell of a mess. You may look back on his words one day consider just how right he was.

This old dude is not in his monopolistic F1 element when he comments poorly on the Olympics. The Olympics are a world event, much bigger than 10 pairs of racing cars. His comments are a disgrace, considering the rich history of the Olympics.

You know it pisses me off that Martin Brundle looks for him on grid, he is such an annoying little ****, instead of hoarding the cash, why doesn't he leave a legacy, lets face it if he doesn't spend it will all go to the female hinger on, and lets face it he's running out of time.
