F1 » Honda 'waiting' on Alonso, 'best driver in F1'

Double F1 World Champion Fernando Alonso is the best driver on the present grand prix grid, states Honda team principal Ross Brawn - and we want him. No such encouragement for current pairing Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello, however...

i still think he is syupid if he goes to honda but alonso will know more about what is going on than we do for next year but given that i doubt if flavio will take him back again if he leaves.

the story seems to imply that bmw are also "interested" in FA. or do they feel that they could put up with whoever honda eject.

FA would be more competetive at BMW one would think if there really is an offer but I don't think BMW would want a 1yr deal. On the other hand Honda would like to pick his brains for a year and Fernando could pick Ross Brawn's brain regarding Ferrari and put him in good stead for the move to Ferrari. It's probably more constructive for both parties for him to go to Honda while FA bides his time. As far as Reno goes he's been there and done that and unless something drastic happens with their pace by seasons end he wont be hanging around.

If it wasn't for some bad luck and Mclaren stitching Alonso up we would be seeing a 3x world champion and probably winning this year's title as well considering the stupid mistakes all the contenders this year is making, Ross is no fool, he's worked with the best driver in Schumacher and his assesment of Alonso is near enough correct just a shame Fernando hasn't had the car to do the damage this year.

Hopefully with Kimi's lackluster performance lately Farrari may want to take a second look at FA.
