FIA Statement: Formula 1 2009
"Overtaking to be banned next season because its too dangerous"

BLOODY DISGUSTING! terrible decision by the stewards, what advantage did he gain for goodness sake? i hope mclaren appeal and win for the sake of F1! i just knew that this would happen, it deters the drivers from trying. you never would have had senna penalised for such things.

has completely ruined one of the most entertaining races of the year.

Bernie needs to stamp on the FIA and the stewards or he will have no one left watching or going to F1.
It's about time the drivers stood ip to this nonsense!

BOYCOT F1. Yep, good idea!

This is ridiculous! I really believe now their is a ferrari bias with the FIA. This sport is starting to lose it''s credibility with me. It''s starting to resemble the NBA here in America, with certain teams getting preferential treatment from officials. The FIA should be ashamed of themselves!!!

I just can't believe this decision - it was a fair and enjoyable race, kept me on the edge of my seat. Hamilton did everything right and he had to go wide to avoid crashing into Raikkonen. Can't believe Massa getting let off last race with reprimand and fine and Hamilton getting this costly punishment. I really hope Hamilton wins this year as he is the driver who deserves it.

I completely agree with the decision. Hamilton made a move coming into the chicane and Kimi defended well and Hamilton had to get off the line. Instead Hamilton took the runoff area and got on the clean racing line again making it impossible for Kimi to do so, he then let Kimi in front very shortly but Kimi couldn't have the speed he would normally have at that point because of Hamilton being on the racing line "illegaly" and Hamilton clearly took advantage of the extra grip to dive to the inside.

When I saw it happen I immediately thought it was a borderline illegal move, although he could also have got away with it...but then Kimi threw it all away on top of things so...

So we have a new rule in F1, a penalty for not breaking the rules if you don''t drive a Ferrari. Were the Stewards watching the same race as the television viewers?
