Please Tony do NOT bring an F1 race to Indy. Bernie''s show is worthless. They bring nothing to the table in the way of racing. Just a hand out asking for tons of money to produce a race that is already fixed. It may just be the worst form of racing on the planet. Some of the best drivers I admit. But nothing for the fans. Stay in the mideast and just take the money from them. WE DO NOT NEED F1 IN THE STATES. Just ask Bernie.

F1 » USGP talks stalled

Having missed 2008, Formula One is not likely to grace the Brickyard at Indianapolis for the foreseeable future.

I've been a Formula 1 fan since 1968. Saw my first race at Watkins Glenn in 1971. I still enjoy F1 racing in spite of efforts by the perv and the dwarf to kill it off with uninteresting circuits and mickey mouse regulatory decisions.

As an F1 circuit, Indy sucks. I would like to see a good, purpose-built, US F1 track host an annual F1 event. That said, I have a flash for the dwarf. F1 needs the US more than the US needs F1. Just ask the F1 manufacturers whose teams depend on advertising revenue and automotive brand awareness.

Rob and Pam, if you do not enjoy the sport, then why bother to comment?

Speed TV mentioned Las Vegas as a possible venue. A destination race would be a great attaction to those of us that are enjoying the racing, and the controversies involved. I find the technical aspects are quite enjoyable.

We comment because we have an opinion... I have heard what Bernie has said about an F1 race in the states. Not gonna happen. Historical venues are being release from the calendar. Why would you think the US would get a race. The LasVegas race is a suck idea as it would be another parade. SPA was a race.

Rob, I agree that Spa was a race, with a race track bar none. Very technical, lots of elevation changes, and room for overtaking - one always looks forward to this race.

Speed TV did interview Bernie at Spa and he did say there was talk and possibility of the race returning to the US, but not at Indy.

I also agree with The Yank, that the US does need a race for the manufacturers.

Las Vegas would need a new interesting and challenging purpose built track, and who can stage a show better than Vegas.

I'm American and I can't see another USGP anywhere. US promoters won't pay $25-30 million for a race and don't get any TV money and don't have the right to sell advertising at their own track. The fact of the matter is Tony G. doesn't need F1 at all - he had before because he wanted the prestige. But since the glitter has faded it is all about making money - something you can't do promoting a F1 race. America isn't some emerging country that needs a race so the government definitely won't pay for it - it won't even be a discussion.

No one stages a better show than Vegas. With the current state of the economy I just do not think anyone will want to throw money at a race with NO return. The tracks here must turn a buck. All current tracks in the states with the exception of Indy would have to invest millions to meet current F1 safety standards and track length. Couple that with Bernie saying we don't need the US. Just not a fit for anyone here. Tony spent untold millions for the track improvements and pagoda and Bernie says they won't be back. Partnerships should not be onesided. ME ME ME

It is a shame though as the US has some awesome circuits, that would (probably) put on a brilliant race. Unfortunately BE is only interested in making more money. I don't believe he even considers the racing any more!

Go to Laguna Seca, Elkhart Lake or return to Watkins Glen and I might be half interested in this prospect. Either that or have bridgestone develop a tyre that can handle the oval at Indy.

The previous comments are correct though. Who in thier right mind wants to host a race they wont make a penny on? Especially after the farce of Indy a few years back.

Saying what I have, we all know that if a GP went to one of the historic circuits mentioned above, they would employ that boring bar steward Herman Tike to ruin the circuit first!
