Rich Ard - While all the "facts" you have quoted are absolutely true. Dear Old Stoddy should get his credit, for putting his personal fortune (Ozjet) and Blood sweat and toil to keep the team afloat, and handing over the reigns to stable backer. Not to mention he ensured that when the Sale happened, Minardi Staff was not shown down and new buyer getting his people on board.

So in that sense, there is some Minardi DNA still in that team and GianCarlo Minardi and Stoddart do deserve that credit.

PS - Also take my previous post in context that poster whom I had responded to hadn't even bother to read the actual article, and was just shooting at headline

Paul Stoddart has insisted that Sebastien Vettel''s stunning victory was no fluke and 'had been coming''.

Suuuuurrre Paul, whatever you say mate. 5 or 6 minor points placings, a truckload of retirements, and a win was just sure to be round the corner!.

Thankyou Mr Stoddart for showing us your amazing ability to predict the past. :)

RX_____ - Have you even bothered to read the article. Or Hipshooting is norm???
Its not mandatory to speak on topics where you don't know anything!!!!

It all boils down to Resources at disposal of the Team in current avataar than its Minardi days. Yes Minardis had minor points finishes and truckloads of retirements, given their shoe string budget it was expected, on the other end of spectrum we had on that grid, team with truckload of budget, access to all possible resources and still not finishing in points(Toyotas) or cars breaking down while leadin races (McLaren). Stoddy has valid claim on teams current glory, coz he fought lonely battle to keep this team afloat

toogood, i supported minardi for many years but when sold to stoddart, it went downhill. but stoddard is wrong to call the team "minardi (torro rosso)". the car is totally different, being designed by newey as a red bull. the ferrari engine is a current model, rather than the old year model used by minardi. management is totally different. ONLY common factor is faenza. ok, red bull have plenty of cash to inject and had stoddard arranged such an injection, minardi might stil be around in their own right. vettel is brilliant and it is sad to see stoddard trying to claim some credit for the change in fortunes. are force indias really jordans??? are rbrs really stewarts/jaguars?? etc

Who's hipshooting?

I was referring to Torro Rosso/Vettel's results, not Minardi. And they're not even close to the results of a team who's first win is 'just around the corner'. BMW have a much more competive history line, and they still needed luck to get a win. Red Bull have a good chassis, but it's some tenths from being a top car. Torro Rosso/Vettel did an awesome job, but despite what you want to believe, winning did still require some fortune. And I challenge you to find anyone who knows what they're talking about who genuinely believed a Torro Rosso win was just around the corner.

Btw TooGood 2Tell, Mclaren haven't broken down whilst leading any races. That was Ferrari (Massa) in Hungary. In fact Heikki's gearbox failure at Spa was the first mechanical DNF for Mclaren in 2008.

You misinterpret what I say, get your facts wrong, and then have the impudence to tell me I know nothing and don't pay attention?!? Way to go hypocrite.

Rx______: Read - Comprehend - Comment thats the Order!!!!!... If you "Re-read" my comments I was referencing to "Minardi" days that is till year 2005. You had referenced that Minardis had "truck load" of retirements, I was giving statistics of their "Contemperories" McLaren Breaking down while leading races was common scene in 2005 , Toyota and Honda with mega budget not returning with points.

So to Summarize " Read Comprehend and comment" don't get your order mixed up :p

rx, many said that a RBR win was just around the corner, in the hands of MW. well, TR is a red bull car but with a better engine, so therefore it should not have been too much of a surprise for a TR to win, particularly in the hands of seb v. look at his quali pace over the last few races. ok, there was a little bit of luck involved, but the fact was that nobody could catch him, and he won!

A very long time ago a famous race engineer told me, if you have a winning car and a winning driver you are still missing something very important=IT'S CALLED LUCK
