He''ll be at Renault next year. There isn''t anywhere else to go that is worth the move. He can''t go to Ferrari (face it, Kimi''s not leaving) or McLaren (obviously), BMW is looking inconsistent, and Honda would be a waste of his time when he''s already working to move Renault (a team he knows) up the grid. Add in that there are going to be lots of changes for next year and I would think that that would make him more inclined to stay where he''s at for 2009.

F1 » Alonso: Win doesn't determine future, but...

Fernando Alonso insists that, despite enjoying his return to Enstone, one win alone will not convince him to see out his Renault contract.

His win this weekend may force him to stay with Renault. I still think he will end up at Ferrari. Kimi or Massa may be let go even with a contract. Kimi has let the team down so many times this year I can't count them all. FA would dominate in the red car as should Kimi.

Rob - I dont see how Kimi has let the team down this year. Let me recall, he saved the car from hitting the wall at Monaco and the unfortunately had a racing incedent which saw him have no where to go but to hit Glock, then he was hit by Hamilton in the pits, then the next race he had a broken ewhaust pipe which took him from the checker to second, then the next race his chances were botched by horrible pit strategy, the race after that he blew a motor while setting fastest lap after fastest lap, yet again the nest race saw him get screwed by Ferrari's bad strategy decision. And for Singapore, he had n o choice to push hard after a botched pitstop strategy again. He is still a great driver

Despite being a Mclaren fan, it was good to see Alonso win in Singapore. Renault, despite their problems this year, are a very good team and are clearly working very hard to get back to the front with Ferrari and Mclaren. Alonso is a classy driver and it was good to see the team get some reward for all their hard work this year.
PS. Hamilton for the WDC this year.

Jason.. The best team in F1 is not in the lead for either major championship. Kimi's performance this year is horrible. All the bad luck is just a shame. Most of the time it was because of his poor qualifying efforts that put him in harms way. Then the other times his motivation seemed dismal. This is not the effort that Ferrari expects from their drivers even if you were once great. He has done little with the best car on the grid. Give that same car to Alonso and the championship is already on ice. And to boot the number two driver is kicking his butt. But yet he is a great driver. Ferrari needed the points this week and he provided none.

Jason you are correct about Ferrai's shameful pit and race performance, stratgey and tactics.
Baldasseri, Domenicali and Kimi Raikonen should have all been on notice by Montezemolo after this race. They have been doing far too many stupid mistakes all season.
Kimi is a good driver but his motivation and performance to date this year are abysmal.
I think that a team for next year consisting of Michael Shumacher as Technical Director with Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa as drivers would have made the Red cars the terror of the grid for many years to come. But then the Pizza Connection reigns supreme at Marinello!!!
Lewis and Mclaren never had it so good.
