not much point in being fast, for one lap, if you are not going to produce the wins or even finish. just shows that the car is fast but the drivers consistency is in doubt.

im sorry, i have read and re-read and re-read again this article and i ask..

a. what is the point in this article
b. what is this article trying to explain, it just says he has more fastest laps than anyone else this year. which with 10 now, 9 before singapore means he was guarenteed to have more than anyone else when he got the FL at spa. so is this article based on ''news'' from 3 weeks ago?

I agree with rich ard, the problem is with focus both of the drivers and team. Same as we saw last year with McL. A fast car is not enough.

What a load of statistical bulls.hit.
Being fastest for one lap in a race when the fuel load is extremely low has nothing to do with being the fastest guy on the track.
The fastest guy is that who wins the race. True, that this has a lot to do with luck, pit stop strategy, pit crew efficienecy, etc, etc., but unless being fast is redeemed in wins then this statistic becomes worthless.
The fastest guy is that who obtains the most pole positions over the lenght of a whole season. End of story.

Got to agree with others. Whats the point in this? Setting the most fastest laps in a year? So what. In theory any number of drivers could do that if they wanted to. Just start with 8 laps of fuel and soft tyres. chances are any driver in the top 3 teams could then set the fastest lap.

Does it win championships? No
Is it a meaningful statistic? No
Does it say anything about Kimis perforamnce this year? Not really. Im sure Ferrari won't be to pleased with that statistic.

sometimes I wonder why I read Crash...

Totally 100% agree. Kimi is, without a shadow of a doubt, THE fastest driver in F1. No question! But it isn't any good being the fastest for one or two laps is it?
It just goes to show how much talent this guy has. If only he could be consistently talented and remain focused, he would be the man to beat. Full stop.

just goes to show that he doesn't really warm his tyres well
needed 9 laps to start setting blistering laps at Singapore
and a few races ago, he woke up near the end of the race to set fastest laps
he should change his driving style for qualifying
