Have Lewis give a drivers class on how to do it. He seem to be the only one with the balls to pass people now. However, that will change since the Ferrari IA penalizes people for passing. Drivers don't want to take the risk. If the pass is illegal, review it quickly and tell the driver to let the person he passed back by. SIMPLE. Don't make an environment where drivers are afraid to pass.

get rid of safety car, which bunches up the field, then there will be some overtaking, even if it is only of the backmarkers. further, these backmarkers should not be required to nearly stop when a faster car wants to pass. it should be up to the skill of the passing driver, to make the move. and make a pit stop to be a penalty rather thanthe only passing opportunity.

Crash has recycled last years news of Ferrari, McLaren, Renault experts coming together to form group to explore increased overtaking in F1 added the interview link which Hamilton had given to crash duh net at DTM race @Brands (and which he duly retracted upon) and presented it as a new story .....
tad too sad

Do away with fuel stops - putting an end to pit lane strategy- too many races are being decided by this one factor alone, rather than on-track action.

Replace carbon/ceramic brakes discs with steel/iron ones - this would help to increase braking distances allowing a better opportunity to overtake into a corner.

Increase the weight of the cars - this would allow front wings and wishbones to made a little stronger allowing to withstand a bit more contact with another car should it happen.

190mph. sounds like champcars, but that should not be dismissed. those cars could bang into barriers and still continue racing.

There are 2 things that stop over taking, the dirty air behind the car in front and the marbles from tyre wear off the racing line.

The rear wing doesn't have to cause dirty air, its deliberate to upset the balance of any car trying to slip stream, as such it can be dialled out without affecting a cars performance.

The marbles come about because tyres are getting softer, if all tyres were restricted to harder compounds there would be less marbles and less dirty areas on the track.

George - Thanks But No Thanks !!! Agreed Lewis can overtake, but so can others.

In case you are the uninitiated in F1 and joined the sports with Lewis. I would advice you to watch Suzuka'05 - Alonso overtaking Michael Schumacher at On the best and challengin circuits. Same race , watch last lap overtake by Kimi Raikkonen to win the race. Another over taker who recently graced the sport was JPM, overtaking was more difficult. Its only recent doing away of traction control has resulted in more overtaking. For JPM to overtake his opponents was special coz his first dissuaders were his team engineers, who were not happy aero imbalance caused by getting in draft of car in front.

George - And in case you rewind the Singapore race, watch Nico Rosberg and Kaz Nakajima overtaking Jarno Trulli. While everybody was sobbing to overtake and blaming the street circuit, Nico and Kaz efficiently executed the move.

In current F1 dominated by engineers, Overtaking is looked down upon as Aerodynamics of car are compromised during overtake, thus hurting the lap times ,which in turn means compromise in strategy of Pit stops and fuel loads.

So please refrain from making comments without understanding the background.

Too Good, no need to insult me or suggest that I am a new fan to justify your own insecurities. That fact that you tried to prove your point with evidence from a race in 2005 is just stupid. It just shows your ignorance. F1 has an overtaking problem TODAY. This isn't 2005, so your example is not really intelligent. Lewis is one of the few making moves TODAY. Not 2005. Also note, I used Lewis as an example because he is one of the Few making passes. I did not say that Lewis is the ONLY driver that EVER makes passes. I want to make that clear so you can sound intelligent when you come back at me in a few minutes. I'm here to help you not look like a fool.
