F1 » Hamilton admits: I hate driving for points

After settling for third place in Singapore, F1 World Championship leader Lewis Hamilton knows that consistency and restraint - rather than all guns blazing - are now the orders of the day in his title challenge, as the McLaren-Mercedes star enters the final three grands prix of the 2008 campaign with a seven-point advantage over Ferrari rival Felipe Massa.

Grumpy_D - As much as I agree that FIA is full of imbeciles and their non-professionalism and inconsistencies have brought pinnacle of motorsport to shambles.
I would stop beating the dead horse of conspiracies against Lewis. More than anything Bernie would have loved him to win the championship last year hence drivers where allowed to keep their points. I have mentioned elsewhere, Rookie errors of Lewis at Fuji and Nurburg were looked the other way. But Still he crumbled last year.
If they really have to plot Bernie and FIA will plot for Lewis to win. as that means lots of monies and TRP ratings.

If FIA had really ill intentions against McLaren, They would have banned McLaren designed Onboard Software system - ECU as it is called. McLaren have started 2008 campaign with head start over other teams as they know all the features of the ECU which enables their drivers to get more out the cars as compared to rest of the grid. All cars on current grid have to use Standard McLaren ECU. One e.g. RBR is still struggling to configure the ECU for smooth gear shifts. for all we know, that is reason for Ferrari struggling in wet, while macca car gets better traction and Lewis gets praised as Rain Master as a result. I don't see other teams crying foul on that.
Guys get real,no victimization here

Silent Runner - 17 points lead nulled in last two races In China combination of Team stupidity (like Ferrari's last race),Combined with Driver inexperience, for someone having blazed through all Jr Formulae, its surprising to see the driver couldn't make connection between tire degradation and increasing lap times. He didn't make firm call to pit and waited till the tire was shot. And Brazil, hitting wrong button on Steering was well captured and well circulated on videos every where, thats the "crumbling" I was pointing to . Bernie did his best to get amnesty in hope "Rookie Champ" Not to mention Steward neglecting Fuji and Nurburgring gaffes? If SPA is rigging, so were these rigged races:)

Errorxp - Good observation, one slight flaw there though. Go to McLaren website and read their press releases. All races this season HK qualifies on heavier fuel load. His first pitstops are later than LH's. Effectively ensures that HK qualifies at best around 3 -5th row on grid. That effectively compromises his results, not to mention those mid-field 1st lap incidents with other drivers , screwing the "Aero" and thus his lap times. To Keep HK happy Macca every now and then praise in press his "Fuel corrected" lap times, how he was faster than Lewis "Fuel corrected". HK is hired what DC did for Hakkinen and Kimi and what Barichello did for Schumi.

Only the day when LH has troubles in qualifying and will be in mid-pack or back of grid, will HK be allowed to race, as a measure of Damage control.
