I think the Red Boss is correct, yes it was worth seeing once, but the track is crap and F1 should be racing on decent width tracks where passing is possible, the follow syndrome strikes again............

F1 » Bernie: Ferrari clowns in Singapore circus

F1 ringmaster Bernie Ecclestone responds to Luca di Montezemolo's Singapore GP criticism - by quipping: "If the Ferrari president is right about [the race] being a circus, we have to be grateful to him for providing the clowns..."

I wouldn't read too much into the comment powerline. Bernie also has to consider the new venues being criticized and defend that as well. But I must agree Bernie is completely right, this had nothing to do with overtaking opportunities and everything to do with Ferrari making an error. The momentum has swung slight in McL and Hamilton's favour andthe Ferrari president blinked: I doubt the rest of the Ferrari team has however.

Nice one Berns. A tweak with the pit lane and safety car would improve the race but I don't think for one second the race was a circus. Hang I'm wrong, it was only for a few seconds when Massa took out the fuel pipe and almost part of the pitlane. All we needed was a spark to set off the vapors in the air after he left a fuel trail a few pit boxes far and we could have had a big issue.

Hopefully Ferrari sorts out their pitting system issue and we can see some proper racing from them again .

Dear Bernie

If you feel the Ferrari pit system is dangerous why don't you ban it ?
Does someone have to get seriously injured before something is done about this obvioulsy flawed system ?

As I recall, di Montezemolo never referred to his team's performance once (I suspect his language for there would have been unfit to print - even here!!). He was right - it WAS a circus - artificial and a gimmick to hold at night. Maybe as a new experience it has some short-term interest, but for a viewing experience, as Brian Clark correctly surmised, very poor. It matters nothing if you are racing in the most spectacular location - if you cannot see it, what's the point?? Remember, all F1's vast income is generated on the back of TV viewing numbers, not the local spectators. I suspect, within a few years this race will change to a normal daytime schedule.

And I have to wonder how no earth people couldn't see what was going on in the coevrage of the race... I don't like tracks like Hungaroring very much, but I don't argue so vehemently that they should be cut just 'cause *I* don't like them.
If the drivers like it, and most fans like it, grow up and ignore one race a year.

Wow, that really conjured up an image for me.

Massa pulls into the pits, driving clean over the massive shoes of the tyre-changers. He honks his horn twice and the wheels fall off his car. After a problem with the fuel rig, theres a flash-over fire, which someone puts out with a bucket of confetti.

Then on comes a Dwarf with a loud-hailer....

Haha, I'd start watching F1 again if that was the case!!

I have to say that mistakes like that from Ferrari in Singapore mean McLaren, who have been at the behest of the FIA officials for conroversial offences this year, probably deserve to take it more because they keep coming back stronger where as Ferrai seem intent on throwing it away.

For once Ecclestone is right - although I give it a day before he changes his tack again and agrees with him like he always does to keep people sweet.
