You are absolutely correct he does have the mentality of a true champion. Now all he needs is the skill!

For me if Massa wins the title, it will be because Mclaren slip up!

F1 » Massa: Points gap can swing

Ferrari's Felipe Massa refuses to give up on his F1 title ambitions, despite his Singapore nightmare leaving him seven points adrift of rival Lewis Hamilton.

Ok all the people that think Massa is better than Lewis, just remember he has been driving an F1 car for, what? 6 years, this is lewis' 2nd year. And if we talk about skill, just think Silverstone! He is also to inconsistent and seems to lack the hunger for a win at times. A hunger that Lewis has and Schumacher had in bucket loads!

The only consistency Ferrari have, is that both driver's are consistently mediocre!

yes points can swing but imo the only team that deserves the title are mclaren. last year kimi was gifted the title because mclaren made silly errors nearing the end of the season also the fia gave ferrari the constructors title over the alleged spying saga as mclaren were the only team punished even though more teams were involved. so last years championship was in my opinion void. the fia have tried doing the same this year so i hope that mclaren win as ferrari and its drivers seem to only be able to drive their cars fast if they are in front or when there are about 10 laps left when kimi decides now is the time to push realy glad he is out of the run in for the title

derek thank you for correcting me. It was not my math but my memory. I forgot that Lewis was demoted to third and not second. I would argue that pole in MotoGP means even less than pole in F1. Make of it what you will but it is one way to compare the drivers. My point was that they are very evenly matched. Whether you use poles, wins, points, or fastest laps they are very evenly matched.

I don't know that I would place all the blame on Lewis's patience, I feel the team has to share some of the blame. Just as Felipe and Ferrari should share the blame. I doubt than Massa feels that Lewis is better than he is. I suspect that all of the drivers believe that they are the best.

Mark, sorry mate do your maths, Hamilton lost six points to Massa over Spa.

Actually if all care to reflect both have failed to deliver and have done stupid things that have cost them points, I have said this before if you race for the title from the on set and gather points, you will stand a good chance. race for victories and you'll lose a few, you have to know when the win is on and when points are available. If Hamilton would learn that and adopt some patience he would have been out of sight by now.

Also Pole positions mean nothing, how many did Rossi get this year, he knows its not worth it binning it on a saturday to screw up the sunday. Massa knows Hamilton is better than him

dont worry massa, you will win the championship with a little help from your friends.Ecclestone has said in his comment about schuy that he will help massa in whatever he needs. So with that and moseley(most important team in f1 are Ferrari) and FIA,you really have nothing to worry about. You dont even have to turn up massa, you have it in the court, sorry i mean,in the bag.

Massa knows that he is the underdog in this title battle but nkoiws that he still has every chance of stealing the title away from Lewis Hamilton, but he still has more to lose than Hamilton, simply because he knows that he has to more gambles than Hamilton as he needs to close the gap between himself and Hamilton by 3 points a race, while Hamilton knows tthat he has to just keep finishing and playing the percentages and not always have to chase wins, and that Hamilton will win the title not just through Ferrari's mistakes but also through his own consistency.

Savas I will give you Spa but even with that you could hardly say neither of these guys deserves the title. If Ferrari did not botch the pit stop in Singapore Massa would most likely have won so in that respect a Ferrari "slip up" benefitted Hamilton. If McLaren had hands down the fastest car and Lewis had the most poles or fastest laps then I may agree that if Massa wins Mclaren "slipped up". They are very even so both would be worthy.

I hope that if Massa wins, it is by more than four points so the Spa decission becomes irrelevant.

I think you will find that either of the front 2 will be worthy champs. They have both had their ups and downs, and both tams have made **** ups. It is however a team sport, with an emphasis on TEAM. I dont think you could say either driver would not deserve it should they win the wdc.

You only have to look at the respective teammates to see that they are both shining examples of determination and skill. What lewis has in one area fellipe doesnt and visa versa. The only defining point for me is that the ferrari is much much faster, if they could harness that speed in a positive way like shumi used to they would have the title wrapped up by now.

Still, no shoulda would couldas!!!

the difference savas in spa is firstly massa didn't perform use a run off area to pass a rival then half heatedly give it back.. and marc massa has made fewer mistakes this year and driven better than hamilton so he will deserve the championship and anybody that says he doesn't hasn't got a clue what they are talking about
