It was obviously going to go: there's been overtaking there in past years... :)

Now with the French GP being cancelled hopefully this will give Canada a reprive.

Shame there would be no Canadian GP next year. I really love the race there, one of the most exciting ever. I like the Gilles Villeneuve Circuit but I think for a better future it has to move out form there. My opinion would be returning to Mont-Tremblant...

Anyone agree?

I live in Canada and went to the race in 1994. The sound was incredible, but I would never blow that kind of money on a GP again. Too bad A. Senna had died earlier because when I got home to finally see some of the race, it had been preceded by a 2 hour Senna obituary....I have heard that all the big wigs go back to their hotel rooms to watch on TV: this sport is v. amenable to TV: impossible to follow in person. And at least I can''t be insulted by the prescence of guys selling 50 cent T-shirts for $100!

There are so many nationalities from Europe, Middle East, Orient that they LOVE seeing F1 racing. The track is ALWAYS packed year after year. It's a pilgrimage, if you will, for F1 fans from all over NA to see the race live. I'm quite serious since I live along one of the arteries to Montreal and seeing the week ahead of the F1 how much heavier the traffic is.

The article is missing comments from FIA, F1 and the Canadian GP group. What gives with that? We need more about what happened since there was never a hint of this coming.

My apologies for the mixing up Laguna Seca:

And, Indianapolis has already proved the acceptance of the MotoGP where Indy talents like Danica Patrick has graced this big event*

No probs F buddies, please hand over the Canadian circuit to Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta :) F1's loss will be MotoGP's gain. MotoGP is first to get the night race much ahead of F1 at Losail International circuit in Qatar. And, Indianapolis has already proved the acceptance of the MotoGP where celebs like Tom Cruise have graced this big event. I'll tell you what, sporting talents like Rossi, Hayden, Pedrosa, Stoner etc will bring more limelight to the Canadian track. Good luck Canada and bring on MotoGP soon :)

If the Abu Dabhi Circuit isn't lined with brick walls, allows overtaking, the track doesn't break up and their can be incidents with the use of the Pesky safety car, Plus the chance of a serious inhury can be avoided, then SOD OFF Canada, hello Abu Dabhi.

As for a true World Championship, the North Americans, have their own world series in every sport they do,

"I hate them Arabs who thinks they can buy their way into everything! Let's pray that the oil prices will hit rock bottom so they can see their precious money-grabbing capability go down the tubes! Posted by M Bee"

Well considering they are only buying a product thats on the market you can hardly blame them...how about you look at B.E and his manipulation of F1 for his own good before laying blame at a country for trying to put itself on the world stage - they are only buying and investing in something thats for sale. What would you rather have - GPs held at state of the art facilities or reduced numbers of GPs because tracks elsewhere aint getting investment???
