It was obviously going to go: there's been overtaking there in past years... :)

Well this will certainly make it easier for me to ignore F1!

Anybody who generalizes America, or any country for that matter, has a very common mind, is beyond ignorant, and not worth the time.

Well that was unexpected, although you really don't expect anything good to ever come out of a circus run by the Greedy Dwarf and the Federation of Idiots and A'holes. I really hope the teams(FOTA) would create their own breakaway series and choose their own tracks.

Man, what a big disappointment... The only frigging track that was totally unpredictable and full of totally out there outcomes over the years. Groundhogs, asphalt, marbles, accidents/safety cars, overtaking, all the stuff that makes for a memorable racing week-end. Gone! :(

Shame on you Bernie... But I bet the manufacturers will have their say in the matter. It's the biggest window for BMW, Merc and Ferrari in America after all. Not Indianapolis pick-up truck red-neck county in Montreal. Not that there's anything wrong with that, as I identify myself as a "pick-up truck red-neck county" resident :)

Very sad day indeed. Living in Mexico, Canada has been the only option to assist to a Grand Prix. I was looking foward to take my wife and son next year to their first GP. What a shame !!. One of the best GP circuits and one of the most exciting races gone, to give place to one of those boring oriental races. Also, like some canadian mate pointed out, Montreal is a beautiful place to be, and in the GP week had an awsome athmosphere.

A disgrace - who cares about 'racing' around a Scalextric track in the middle of some desert somewhere.

I'd seriously looked at doing New York, Niagara and taking in the Canadian GP next year - think I'll go back to Mallorca now!!

I really wish the teams would break away from FIA/Bernie's control and run the show themselves as it is patently obvious that it is only money making that matters not the spectacle.

Suggest they look at some of the recent MotoGP and WSBK races to see what racing is all about.

I quite liked the Canadian Grand Prix so inevitably I quite shocked that it has got the cop of the calendar for 2009 and beyond, as it was a circuit that always generated alot of drama with good close exciting racing on a track that was part race track and part street rack as parts of it were very close to the wall which required high levels of driver skill and generated alot of overtaking, I also liked for the fact that with the time difference it was on at a good time from 5pm-7:30pm here in the UK which meant that it would generate a high level of viewer interest due to it's prime time slot which some of the new Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi will not as it will be shown at 5am our time but

I'm a fan of the long lost CART series, but when it all came to an end, I finally went to the Canadian Grand Prix last June, had a wonderful time, and vowed to come back next year, and what happens?

I'm beginning to hate this sport, or at least the people who run it.

A very sad day to me indeed, as a Quebecer i'm totally angry about it.
And why did they drop our race without warning??? Every other venues that was on the verge of being excluded was always given warning of it in advance.
Well, it is only a provisional thing, and by what i heard in the local news today, the city of Montreal and the gvt of Quebec will try and do the impossible to save the race. But at what cost...
As for this generalisation about "american", that do prove that the poster know close to nothing of america. Canadian are very different from people from the usa.
Hell, even within Canada, you got us, the Quebecer, who are zillion light years away from "other" Canadian.
