Make that easier. Just sack Max & Bernie. They can take the FIA with them. The teams can easily set up a new motor sports governing body. Until & unless everybody realizes that they don''t really need Max, Bernie & the FIA around, they will continue to seek governmental intervention whenever Max or Bernie pull a fast one. One does not even need to undergo cold turkey to get rid of Max & Bernie from their system.

Governments seem to be spending billions of $ stopping the financial system from collapse - a few extra million on protecting your home GP seems a pittance in comparison ! :-o

I can see the future: the same thing will happen to the British GP... Can you see the UK government helping Donington/Silverstone??

Yes we're losing all the good old tracks. Best book tickets for next years Euro GP's as they'll probably be the last...

FIA- Forever In Arabia..... :)

check autosport site. the teams are trying to have canadian gp reinstated. it appears that "removal" is a ploy by the dwarf to put more pressure on canada for more money. surprise, surprise! however, why on earth publish an "agreed timetable, if you are still negotiating. the whole matter stinks. the next thing we will hear is that silverstone is to be reinstated in 2010!!

In the current world economy a government lining Bernie's pockets for a car race makes a whole lot of sense. Damn I hate Bernie Ecclestone.

I really want us to keep our GP, but not if we have to inject public money in it.
We already have difficulties founding the free education and health systems here in Quebec, i can't see how the gov. can justifies this kind of money going into a sport.

But if they really want is races in desert, we have a beautifull one in the north here. Well, ok it is snow desert, but desert nevertheless. :)

Dany - that aint a bad idea now you mention it..thinking of the positives..sure during a nice gentle Canadian snow storm we could bury the poisoned dwarf in a few feet of snow....a bad canadian snow storm and we could bury Mad Max and the rest of his FIA cronies....Other benfits could be that we just clear a huge massive expanse of snow where there is nothing to hit when the cars inevitably spin on some ice thus retiring the safety car and eliminating any poor excuses from various teams on how the safety car ruined their race...

Bernie would do well in the Mafia. He certainly knows how to 'shakedown'. But alas, F1 pays better so WE have him instead. I hate the fact he believes that the dollar is the most important, when it is US the fans who make the sport.

Bernie tried the same routine with my Australian GP and threatened to remove it if it didn't become a night race. Well, it didn't get removed and it isn't a night race although the start is later in the afternoon.

PS I hope Canada retains the GP, i love watching the racing at that track. There is always good racing there.

Bernie is living in a fantasy world where he sees everyone one as his minions. He doesn't give a crap about the current world economic crises as long as he can line his pockets.

I just read in the International Herald Tribune team want races in North America. It's highly unlikely Mr Greedy would listen.
