I think this is probably the best F1 related article I've read in years. It perfectly sums up how pathetic this "sport" has become recently

Whilst I have a lot of respect for Gordon and basically I agree with the sentiment of his letter, I can't help but think he really hsan't done himself justice. Doesn't it sound just a tiny bit whiney to anyone ?

An excellent article Gordon (who for the benefit of Richard is one of the most respected journalists of our sport!).Note the inappropriate use of the last two words I wrote in brackets...OUR and SPORT.Having seen photos of the green stripes painted on the tyres for the Fuji race to promote caring for the environment and having read some of the figures for the illumination of the Singapore GP,perhaps it is time to find another sport to follow, this one is getting too bizarre!

Thanks Gordon and everyone else that has taken the time to comment. Don't upset yourselves too much, pretty soon the 'races' will be decided by the stewards without engines needing to be started!

Thank you Gordon Kirby.

It is amazing that the UK hasn''t been completely dropped as well. We will find what the emerging markets are made of now that there is a global recession and how much the new countries will be able to put up.

Dubai,( a particularly dull experience), will not have a problem with fees, but may have a problem enticing persons to that dreadful place. Malaysia, Sinapore (totalitarian state that it is)and Turkey may find their populist underground inspired to car bomb F1 races as an attack on the greed that their respective govenments represent. F1 racing doesn''t have a historical basis with the majority of residents in the emerging markets. They may react according

The perv and dwarf are not concerned with racing, only what lines their pockets.

I've supported F1 since the early 70's and it's been turned in to a farce, yet the perv and the dwarf probably think they've done a great job and are not interested in what the fans think. The word dictators comes to mind.

As for the dwarf's latest wheeze to save costs, (all teams to use the same engine but badged by the teams/manufacturers), this has got to be the final dumbing down of F1. Presumably he has shares in the proposed engine manufacturer?

I am now really close to giving up on F1 and now prefer MotoGP and WSBK.

The only thing that I can see that GK left out of his letter is that tthe racing circuits of the Mid/Far East (with the exception of Suzuka, Fuji and Singapore) ore) are all ANTISEPTIC Hermann Tilke billiard tables offering no challenge to the racing teams or drivers!

Well said. Will it change anything? Nah. I went to each USGP at Indy including the tire fiasco year. After that ugly episode, it became clear that the only thing BE and MM care about is $$. Follow the money. Trouble is, I think F1''s success is built on tradition: the heavy weight of the past glories, deaths and triumphs. And there is precious little tradtion in the new tracks, no soul if you will. Of course, someday all the new tracks will find out the truth but by then the Bernie and Max Travelling Medicine Show will be down the road.

Probably back in the US and Canada.

Richard, you are right.
But in the end who gives a monkeys what the fans want? Who cares how far you have to travel? Who cares what the accommodation, infrastructure etc is like.? Who cares whether they RACE on circuits, in the pits or just play follow-my-leader fot two hours?
Bernie and Max are making money, that''s all that counts
