I live in the States and stayed up to 2:30am watching the race and for me to wake up and see that Bourdais got a penalty for that incident is unreal. He did not come out of the pits and swerve in front of Massa - Massa turned into him. It is always on the overtaking driver to make a clean pass. Bourdais drove an excellent race and for his race to be ruin by this is a shame.

But the real question is why does every contact warrant a penalty? What happen to "racing incidents"? This is motor racing, no?

F1 » Bourdais: Should I roll out the red carpet?

Scuderia Toro Rosso star Sébastien Bourdais heavily criticises Ferrari's Felipe Massa for having shown no 'respect' in the Japanese Grand Prix at Fuji, as the multiple Champ Car king was stripped of his best F1 result to-date.

Great comment by Seb there. We need people like him in f1 to stand up to fia. as for the penalty this is ridiculous it is racing ffs and if it was a mclaren bourdais hit we would not be having a story to comment on. in motogp at jerez in 2005 rossi gibernau last corner last lap rossi made a lunge and took 1st place no penalty. f1 is being decided in pit stops and perhaps the start. now all these penalties are happening its creating pointless stories about overtaking and if it is deemed as a good move.

It's pathetic the way the FIA continually favors Ferrari. Massa should have received the penalty, not Bourdais.

Great drive Seb! You're finally starting to show your true talent. Hope to see you in a Renault next year!

Sebastian ran a great race. They can not take that away. I just wonder how they are going to fix this train wreck that F1 has become.

As usual, more BS from the FIA. Time to start watching more IRL. No FIA Ferrari favoritism there.

It does remind of the incident in sepang some years back when M Schumacher and JP montoya had a coming together in the first corner!
And Juan Pablo Montoya got penalised for the incident which was Shumachers fault!
I remember hearing montoya's comment on the radio when the team told him to do a drive through, montoya said " the Effing idiot drove into me!" and when montoya drove into the pits he spoke his mind on the rules saying " this is bull **** i gave him room!".
I dont know who the stewards are but they seem very unfair in their decisions at times!

Good call there Rick!
Imagine if Ferrari entered IRL?
They will be in for a big shock and have to work to win instead of hoping for backing from the governing body of the sport in their favour!
