I''m inclined to agree, everytime there is an overtake or agressive move now it seems the authorities are watching like hawks and are to quick to hand out penalties. shoot first ask questions later sort of thing.

F1 » F1 authorities 'losing plot' over penalties

Mark Blundell has accused F1's authorities of 'losing the plot' and 'political correctness gone mad' over the plethora of controversial penalties dished out in 2008 - most recently to McLaren-Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton, Ferrari's Felipe Massa and Scuderia Toro Rosso's Sébastien Bourdais in the Japanese Grand Prix at Fuji Speedway last weekend.

It's easy to "shoot first and aske questions later" when they won't even listen to appeals on these retrospective penalties.

I'm sick of defending F1 every monday morning in work. The FIA think that with all these controversies they're raising awareness... they're making the sport into a laughing stock. Not all publicity is good publicity.

I agree with Mark Blundell''s comments. The stewards set dangerous precedents earlier in the season with the Hamilton penalty for his move on Raikonnen and are now reaping the reward. However I cannot understand how nothing has been said or done about Massa''s pass on Webber which is exactly the same as Lewis'' was on Kimi except that Massa didn''t even try to hand back the place having driven off the track when overtaking.

If the stewards are going to impose penalties they have to be consistent. They also need to understand the sport and the challenges involved in driving competitively.

Jon, i do agree with that. massa was driving over the chevrons at the pit lane exit, had there been a car exiting at that time it would have been carnage. A car exiting the pit lane has to stay within the solid white line, so why is a car on track allowed to stray across it? makes no sense!

Metalsteve, agreed. If that was Hamilton overtaking on the chevrons, you can bet that he would have had another penalty. I wonder if the stewards are on comission for the number of penalties per race? I know times are hard, but still...

Well shall we all start running a sweep stake and put on bets who will get a drive through/stop go penalty and on what lap, or who will get penalised after the race?
this has ruined what was once many years ago a good sport!
If this carries on, i do hope a rival series is formed!

Love it or hate it, you will all be there this weekend, glued to your sets like your life depends on it and once again you will be frustrated by the penalties imposed by these half wit stewards who must be on drugs.
We have no control over the way F1 is run and never will, so best to just live with it or go watch another formula, with the later being the favoured option.
Our drug is F1, so we will of course live with it!

And I have a question for y'all, if F1 went to Sky and you had to pod out £33 per month to watch it, would you?
