This would be great news for all concerned. The "Senna" name back in F1 and Rubens moving to IndyCar joining his friends TK and HCN. This will be especially good news for Rubens after struggling with a terrible car this year but still being able to match and in most cases out-perform his highly rated team-mate Button. Think that they are getting rid of the wrong driver if you ask me. However, if this gets Bruno into F1, then it is fine by me.

If their respective deals do come off, I just hope that Honda give Bruno a decent car and that Rubens stays safe in America.

Good luck to them both in 2009, wherever that may be.

F1 » Senna to Honda, Barrichello to IndyCar in '09?

With GP2 Series vice-champion Bruno Senna looking an ever-more likely possibility to join Honda in Formula 1 in 2009, it seems countryman Rubens Barrichello may be eyeing a future in the IndyCar Series...

I for one would love to see Rubens come to the US. The IRL is at last coming out of its dark ages, while F1 is plunging head first into their dark ages.

Great things await Rubens in the USA

Away from the political correctness of F1, he can drive to the max and do very well in the right car.

I hope he gets an offer.

Amazing that Honda continues with these desperate tactics.

a) It should keep Rubens (cheaper, more experienced, more committed, relationship with Ross B, has so much more set-up experience, and in case I didn't mention it, cheaper)

b) After the 19 fiasco that resulted in the no sponsors/earth nightmare programme, now, Fry's next gimic....a Senna!

This team is a joke.

Yes Paul, even though I am a BIG Senna fan, I am finding it rather funny that of all the teams to be interested in Bruno, it is Honda!

Ayrton had an amazing relationship with Honda and I wonder whether there is a bit of pressure coming from Japan to sign Bruno?

Very nice to hear that Senna's nephew is making the F1 debut...let's wish him the very best and a long highly successful career at least little like his uncle :)

And Rubens is really a nice guy. I love Indy oval tracks a lot. My best wishes for him too.

Indycar is lame. If he's coming to the states he should try and find a drive in the American Le Mans Series. That series is an example of racing done right. F1 could learn a lot from how they operate.

Matt i'd have to disagree with you there, its not run that well. The fact is they've fiddled with the restrictions so much that LMP2 cars are beating LMP1 cars, nearly driving Audi away. Audi only stayed because they're desperate to raise the profile of performance diesels in the US.

As with most series in the US, I think too much is placed on the 'spectacle' and equality between teams, resulting in technically basic spec series'. ('09 AMA SBK fiasco, Toyota leaving IRL etc)

The fact is manufacturers who spend their hard earnt cash on a winning car want to see the results they deserve, and if the rules are undermining their investment then why bother??
