This would be great news for all concerned. The "Senna" name back in F1 and Rubens moving to IndyCar joining his friends TK and HCN. This will be especially good news for Rubens after struggling with a terrible car this year but still being able to match and in most cases out-perform his highly rated team-mate Button. Think that they are getting rid of the wrong driver if you ask me. However, if this gets Bruno into F1, then it is fine by me.

If their respective deals do come off, I just hope that Honda give Bruno a decent car and that Rubens stays safe in America.

Good luck to them both in 2009, wherever that may be.

F1 » Senna to Honda, Barrichello to IndyCar in '09?

With GP2 Series vice-champion Bruno Senna looking an ever-more likely possibility to join Honda in Formula 1 in 2009, it seems countryman Rubens Barrichello may be eyeing a future in the IndyCar Series...

I think the CART/IRL unification has been very positive. With Franchitti move back and F1 drivers moving over to add the already impressive field it could really turn into a great series again as it was before the split.

Robsy, why did you bother posting because comments like yours are just pointless.

Bruno has not got an F1 drive (if he does) based on his name becuase he is not a Senna and neither was Ayrton for that matter!

Bruno is clearly a very fast racing driver and IMO he deserves his chance in F1 and if he fails, he will be out on his ear by the end of 2009.

Lets just wait and see how Bruno gets on before making judgement eh?

Good to see that despite Piquets variable performance, a good name is still enough to get you a seat in an F1 car.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off down to the registry office to change my name by deed poll to Fangio.

Oh and back on point, I'd love to see Senna and Button, that could be a good line-up!

Matt i'd have to disagree with you there, its not run that well. The fact is they've fiddled with the restrictions so much that LMP2 cars are beating LMP1 cars, nearly driving Audi away. Audi only stayed because they're desperate to raise the profile of performance diesels in the US.

As with most series in the US, I think too much is placed on the 'spectacle' and equality between teams, resulting in technically basic spec series'. ('09 AMA SBK fiasco, Toyota leaving IRL etc)

The fact is manufacturers who spend their hard earnt cash on a winning car want to see the results they deserve, and if the rules are undermining their investment then why bother??

Indycar is lame. If he's coming to the states he should try and find a drive in the American Le Mans Series. That series is an example of racing done right. F1 could learn a lot from how they operate.
