F1 » Bernie: Single engine will level out F1 field

I get it, so, its like bowling shoe rentals: you get a generic engine at the race track and then check it back in for your deposit at the end. Others will want to bring their own shoes I''m sure. Well, I suppose it will help the back of the field to catch up

Why not just give them all - single spec cars and call F1 Formula Ferrari ... We Already have Formula Ford, Formula Renault etc

If they go for a single engine manifactured by one supplier they better add to the regulations that the engine supplier can not enter a car for the championship - there are countless examples of where so called Chinese Walls are setup so that departments are kept apart and it never worked.

So, engine supplier does just and only that, not allowed to enter a car. Then, and only then, will we scrape an ounce of fairness back into F1.

Why do I think Bernie would have stock in the company of the engine supplier?

Lets see now I think Ferrari build an power A1GP. There you are Bernie just close up shop and join Sheikh Maktoum and Tony Teixeira I am sure they would love it if you joined them. Have say I will stop watching as A1GP does not hold my attention. So why would a one make F1?

Would you buy a Mercedes and expect it to have a Honda engine?
Would anyome buy a Ferrari and expect to get a Toyota engine under the hood!

The old boy along with Max the per vert seems to have gone senile.
We can all see the boards of the manufacturers pouring millions in to reduced F1 just to have generic engines to promote thier brands!

F1 bosses have all gone FFFFFFF1n barking mad! F1 FIAsco yet again!

If they go to one engine, what''s the point? It might as well be NASCAR with right turns at that point. I''ll be done watching (on TV of course, since we North Americans are not important enough for even 1 race here) F1 if this is comes to pass. It''s as simple as that.

I love how this is being done in the interest of reducing cost. If they truly were interested in reducing costs, they would have left the old V10 formula alone. After several years of development, there would only be so far that teams could take that platform. Instead, the FIA keep throwning change after change at the teams... frozen V8's, standardized ECU's, transmissions that have to last forever, etc. All of these changes require the teams to react to come into compliance, which costs money.

All of this is beside the fundamental issue that F1 is the premier auto technology showcase. How in the world do they expect to keep interest in the sport if everyone drives essentially the same car?
