I for one like Martin Brundle''s "tell it like it is" approach and hope he moves over to the BBC

F1 » FIA trying to prevent Brundle BBC move?

Rumours have begun sweeping the F1 paddock that the sport's governing body, the FIA, is making efforts to dissuade the BBC from employing popular ITV-F1 commentator Martin Brundle in 2009.

Nothing about this sport shocks me anymore, it's a disgrace

We should show these clowns fans have some power and bombard the FIA & BBC with emails

The FIA has too much say! It is not there business who commentates, they should only apply the rules (badly)! This is just because MB speaks his mind. It's up to us how good we think MB's commentary is, as we are the 'customers' of F1. Therefore we are always right. Correct?

If it weren't for Martin Brundle, ITV's coverage would be virtually unwatchable. I usually end up sleeping through the races when Martin is on holiday -- it really is that bad.

If the BBC doesn't hire him, for *any* reason (FIA fascism or otherwise), I hope they won't be surprised when the show's ratings go through the floor. I live in hope that the BBC is smart enough to realise this.

Ferrari. International. Assistance. strikes again! Does this highlight once again anybody with the balls to speak out aginst Max and Bernie's private profit party is quietly eased out of a position where they are able to make such comments or express an opinion at odds with the f.i.a or god forbid hinder a Ferrari on it's way to world domination?!
Eddie Jordan sounds like a great option, but then again he does have opinions. Lets hope this doesn't herald more of James Allen and someother muppet with an alter to Lewis hidden in his spare room!!

Dont forget MB raced for McLaren... A VERY good reason for the FIA to get him 'struck off'... how dare he?!

I had the pleasure of going to the Singapore Grand Prix this year and I missed the commentry by MB. I'm not saying the guys who were commentating were bad but I really do think MB is good at his job.

Wouldnt it be really interesting if the sport was commentated by MB, David Coulthard and Eddie Irvine. I think it would be VERY incitefull.

So... The FIA are trying to say that Martin Brundle's commentary is below par... why the hell have they not stepped in and shut James Allen up before now!!

By "not up to standard" they actually mean "does not fall into our way of thinking"

Is it not about time the F1 teams stepped up and said 'no more'. This type of interventionist nonsense if ruining the sport, even if this is just paper talk it make the sport look a joke, just like the plans to comvert F1 to an almost one make formula with control engines etc, to save cost or just increase the ability of the FIA to keep control? I spend many weekends involved at both national and international motorsport and there is never this level of intervention and disruption to the racing, if it did ocur then many people would just not complete. Perhaps the answere is that the F1 teams break from the FIA and have another club do it ACO or 750 motor club perhaps?

Dear BBC, Please do not accede to the FIA''s whimpering . MB will be a great asset to you and he is the best asset by far to the ITV team. He understands F1 which is more than a lot of commentators and his driving insights are second to none. The FIA has no right to interfere in another companies employment decisions, shame on the FIA (yet again), who do they thinhkthey are? The sooner the top brass go the better, and Bernie can go with them as well.
