I for one like Martin Brundle''s "tell it like it is" approach and hope he moves over to the BBC

F1 » FIA trying to prevent Brundle BBC move?

Rumours have begun sweeping the F1 paddock that the sport's governing body, the FIA, is making efforts to dissuade the BBC from employing popular ITV-F1 commentator Martin Brundle in 2009.

Martin is without doubt the best commentator I have come across in 15 years of viewing/listening. Lose him and things will not be the same. His knowledge & insight may not be comfortable for the FIA, but it is great to have someone who tells it how it is. If they think Eddie Jordan wouldn''t rock boats then think again!

I don't see the problem really. And I doubt it FIA has anything to do with it, they are regulating the sport, who may be involved could be Bernie. He has the commercial rights, he changed the contract from ITV to BBC, he may have listed some Dos and Donts, it will be his right to do so by the way and we fans either accept the fact or just go and watch something else. Plenty of us are threatening to do so this year so let them do it. As for whoever commentates? Seeing that BBC has claimed through the years unbiased news, comments and to tell it as it is, they should get commentators that are not biased with some drivers as the ITV guys are and were this and last year ...

I don't think calling it as it is, is bias! MB has praised Massa, Kubica, Hamilton, Vettel and anyone else that has done well in a race. What he does not praise is the ridiculas intervention of the FIA and their crazy penalties! And there lies the problem.

The FIA must now carry about ZERO credibility with anyone who has a clue of what goes on in F1, cant say im surprised though. Trying to silence the press never goes down well. Hitler (or do I mean Mosley) is really getting paranoid at this stage, must be time to bring in the SS or Gastapo to sort it all out

If they do stop his move, that will probably be it... I will refuse to watch F1 anymore if they can actually influence something like this.

It's not like he's done anything remotely wrong, just pissed off Max. But he's just about the best commentator of any sport anywhere, and the only reason I can survive a season's worth of James "adult labrador tied to the head" Allan.

Karga:

What the FIA could at the very least do is refuse Brundle a paddock pass for every race, effectively stopping him doing his job. I know that had been threatened before when he first printed questions about the spygate case.

Karga, you "doubt that the FIA has anything to do with it". Alan Donnelly is the FIA Delegate. IF, he has been correctly reported as doing this, who do you think he represents?

AND, I believe that it was ITV who wanted to withdraw, not BE changing it from ITV to BBC. Please get your facts straight.

As for unbiased commentators, I don't think you're gonna find many of them out there. Everyone has some sort of bias, some more than others. MB was concerned about the "witch-hunt" that the FIA was apparently carrying out against McLaren/LH. I don't think this is bias as it reflects many opinions on this forum and the world in general.

Do you all honestly think the BBC will listen to them?
Duh of course not.
Martin Brundle will be at the BBC next year. I bet you.
